Heavy Hitter: MV Agusta F4 Pista

The MV Agusta F4 Veltro 185bhp. 300km/h.

When it was back in 2006, the MV Agusta F4 Pista cost the equivalent of The Pista (the Italian for ‘track’) was only meant for use, and was not street-legal. MV only 23 units of this bike. A bit common was the F4 Veltro Strada, the version, of which 99 units made. So does the Veltro alongside the F4 Senna.

Tamburini and CC as one of the most expensive, most motorcycles MV Agusta ever You bet.

Fettled by MV Agusta Corse racing division, which was shut down…) and hand-built in San by the Cagiva Research Centre, the Veltro Pista was fitted MV’s 998cc inline-four, from the earlier F4 Tamburini. A exhaust was fitted on this which, along with mods, pushed power up to 185 horsepower at 12,000rpm. Top speed was all of

Carbonfibre was used for making the Pista’s bodywork, and magnesium and bits were everywhere. Brembo wheels, Pirelli magnesium alloy swingarm, and a quickshifter were also High-spec suspension components used – fully-adjustable Sachs (with ride-height adjuster) at the and fully adjustable 50mm USD fork at the front, with aluminum brackets for the radially-mounted Brembo brakes.

The cheaper Strada, which cost US$72,000, weighed a bit more – 170 – but got the same engine and tubular frame as the Pista. Of course, the came with lights, and a street-legal exhaust system, kept power down to 174bhp. (The racing also given to customers, but in a box – to be used on the track only.) And was no quickshifter on the Strada. Still, was more performance here most mortals would be able to use on the street. Or on the track .

When MCN tested the Veltro they said, ‘The MV like nothing you’ll find on the road. It bludgeons you a hammer blow of gale-force, face altering acceleration. all you can do to keep up with the relentless the Veltro is happy to dish up for masochistic enjoyment.’

‘The power at low rpm isn’t not helped by the tall gearing, but in its stride – at around 6000rpm – it off, all the way to 13,000rpm, when a of lights flash at you to signal time to change gear. off the gas and on to the freight-train-strength four-piston Brembos, the slipper clutch does its Bang, bang, down the gears, popping and banging on the don’t blip the throttle, and you serenely on to your chosen line. The bike has so much so much composure and feedback the chassis that it seems to at your attempts to go fast the corners,’ said the guys at MCN .

So coming back to the question of is the greatest MV Agusta F4 1000 built, is it the Veltro Pista / Ummm… ok, we really don’t For us, the F4 Tamburini, Senna, Veltro and CC are all that we can only dream of – actually afford to buy.
