Overview

F4 1000 is a legendary super bike from MV Agusta which is under production since 2006. The RR variant of F4 was launched two years back. The bike may also enter our Indian bike market this year.

Let’s get into the detailing of this bike.

Exterior

Both variants of F4 are almost similar to each other in terms of appearance. Apart from colors, there is no major difference in both bikes. MV Agusta F4 has an aerodynamic design which starts from its front. The big front fairing features a diamond shaped headlight which is placed just below the tip of its V-shaped visor.

The LED side indicators are integrated in its rear view mirrors which get mounted on the front cowl. The air-inlet just below the headlight looks sporty when seen from the front and complements the graphics on its front fairing. The short front fender and multi spoke alloy wheels add visual charm to this bike.

The side fairing completely covers the engine of this bike while you can notice the engine pipes moving upwards just below the rear cowl. These twin pipes are the silencers of F4 which looks extremely sporty when seen from the back. The air-inlets in its side fairing look aerodynamic and suit the designing of this bike. This side fairing also features an integrated under cowl. The fuel tank of F4 nicely merges into the rider’s seat and looks edgy when seen from either side.

The tall positioned rear cowl, single side swing arm and fatty rear tyre adds the much needed nakedness to this bike. The rear cowl features its LED tail light while side indicators are placed on its extended rear fender.

MV Agusta F4 features a combined analogue- digital instrument console . It has an analogue tachometer while its LCD displays digital speedometer, odometer, clock, gear position indicator, 2-trip meter and fuel gauge. All essential indicators are also placed in this instrument panel. All electronic settings are shown in this dashboard which gives important information to the rider.

Both variants of F4, R and RR are powered by the same DOHC, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 16valves 998cc engine with different specifications. The R variant produces a peak power output of 195 bhp at 13000 rpm while its torque amount of 112 Nm arrives at 9100 rpm. The RR variant of F4 churns out a maximum power output of 200 bhp at 13400 rpm. The utmost torque production of this variant is of 114 Nm which is accessible at 9200 rpm.

These both bikes are equipped with six-speed manual gearbox with one gear down and five gears up-shift pattern.

The initial performances of these both bikes are almost identical but the RR variant feels more powerful at high speeds thanks to the additional 5bhp of power. F4 has the class leading power to weight ratio which makes it surprisingly fast on roads. The bike reaches 0-100km/hr in less than 3 seconds and it takes only 6 seconds to reach 0-200km/hr. The bike comes with electronically restricted speed of 299km/hr. The tall gear ratios of this bike help it to achieve power as high as 13400rpm.

These tall gear ratios are backed up by enough amount of torque. It’s a very refined engine which never shown any signs of vibration and harshness. This engine is available with four ride modes, adjustable throttle, torque, and engine response and rpm limiter system which can be adjusted by the rider.

The bike feels quite responsive and aggressive in every riding mode.

Both variants of F4 may cover a distance of around 8km in one litre of petrol.

The adjustable foot pegs can be adjusted by the rider as per requirement. Its full size rider seat feels quite comfortable on long journeys and feels well padded. The clips on handle bar are easy to reach and you will enjoy the firm palm grip.

There are no signs of vibrations in this compact handle bar even at the speed of 290km/hr. The fuel tank gives way to your thighs to stick around it and enjoy firm grip around corners. The sporty riding posture enhances your comfort at high speeds and gives you good control over this bike.

All setting controls are placed on the left side and one can easily operate the systems of this bike.

The bike lacks any kind of storage space. The MVICS technology and powerful headlight are its vital safety features.

F4 uses massive 50mm Marzocchi telescopic forks at its front and single side swing arm with mono shock absorber at the back. It’s a fully adjustable suspension system which can also be manually adjusted by the rider. The bike features twin disc brakes of 320mm at its front and single rear disc brake of 210mm.

F4 has four-piston callipers at its front and two-piston callipers at its back.

The rigid light frame of this bike gives it strong high end performance and maintains stability at high speeds through its wheelbase of 1430mm . The low ground clearance of 125mm helps this bike to catch up pace easily and makes it stable around corners. Its adjustable suspension system also plays a vital role in improving the ride and handling of this bike. The fatty tyres, strong suspension system and steering damper keep this bike grounded on long runs.

The bike offers extremely light handling at high speeds and never loses contact with roads. The slow speed stability of this bike is not impressive though but its capable braking system is quite impressive. The discs help you to keep this bike under control at extremely fast speeds.

The bike has 17 inches alloy wheels. MV Agusta will launch two variants of F4 in two different shades.

Certainly, F4 is a speed monster which can overtake almost anything on roads. As speculated, this bike may be priced between INR 24-28lakhs in India. At this price, F4 will become one of the most expensive bikes ever launched in India .
