Will MV Agusta survive enough to deliver a 675cc, Tamburini masterpiece?

No doubt to capture a little of the magic has seen Triumph’s class-smashing 675 make a massive impression in tests, track tests and charts, MV Agusta is developing its own triple — and in typical Castiglioni style, just betting the company’s survival on it.

The MV Agusta F3 supersport bike feature 4 radial valves per which the company believes give it a significant top-end advantage over the Triumph. the Daytona making 123bhp, MV is at 135bhp or more, as well as a weight chassis due to the use of more and exotic materials.

MV engine whiz Andrea is already working on the motor, and designer Massimo Tamburini is on the F3’s design. Tamburini has some of history’s most beautiful bikes, including the 916, MV Brutale and Mv F4 — so reasonable to expect the F3 will be stunning.

Sadly, although its have always been at the pinnacle of performance, aesthetics and it’s impossible to discuss MV Agustas without speculating on the business side of things the beautiful bikes can’t on coming if the factory closes, and yet it seems huge debts and flow problems are threatening the with extinction.

MV Agusta president Claudio acknowledges the financial strife the now finds itself battling, but that the way forward is to diversify new segments like the big-selling market to start generating income to offset the company’s In a recent interview for Australian News, Castiglioni spoke about the company’s prospects of the right investment partners to the new F3 range and a single-cylinder F1 range to the

“Don’t worry,” he said, “A new will arrive and MV will to exist. It’s too great a not to continue in business.” Then, in acknowledgement that his own passion-over-bottom-line decisionmaking might have to be in, he added, “I’m not looking for a to just come in and write and let everything continue as before; we to completely restructure the company to do differently and I’m confident I’ll such a person or such a

The supersport segment is going to be a key of the MV revival plan, Castiglioni Spain’s Solomoto. “[The segment is the largest, is four or times larger than the cc. MV can sell 6,000 motorcycles year and perhaps 9,000 the but with this three-cylinder we can 15,000 or 20,000 units a few years.”

If one thing’s clear, that Tamburini, Goggi and Castiglioni are deeply passionate and dedicated to finding a way to get the most brand in motorcycling back the black — even an unexpected and heartbreaking shafting saw all the money from MV’s of its Husqvarna brand go back to with none re-invested in the

Still, for the good of bike-lovers we hope MV gets its affairs out in time to give birth to Tamburini masterpiece, this in the hugely desirable three-cylinder format that’s taken to 3 years of utter dominance in and track testing. Of course, the F3 likely have to compete a revised Triumph Daytona, as as a similarly specified Benelli and a BMW supersport triple that’s to be coming in 2010. Here’s it will be a stand-up stoush we can all
