Sliders – Protection

Okay, I’ll be the to admit, this post not be necessary, but if you’ve read my posts, you’ll see why this is added to the blog.

The open The wind.  The freedom.  The escape.  The of power coming from the transferring from the road through your body.  The The energy.  The renewal of a youthful

These and thousands of other are often mentioned, thought and for those that own and ride

The grinding of metal and plastic asphalt.  Not so much.  Preferably Unfortunately, once is more enough.  Realistically, it can happen at any moment.

Most often, error.  Sometimes, a victim of Every once in a while, not of own fault.  No matter the reason, or without bodily harm and and hopefully no worse that

If you never go down, or your never gets damaged, great and all the congratulations to you.

For the of us, after personal protection and limiting the damage to our motorcycle is the next most important If you experience a fall or any type of hopefully you can learn from mistakes and become a better The motorcycle on the other hand never learn, it just to be protected.

So, although I probably should made this my third I didn’t.  First would been the motorcycle itself – and it Second would have a helmet, riding jacket built in protection, gloves and riding boots – and they

Third should have sliders – but they weren’t.  If you read my other post can lead to imagination…” about how I my Mana 850 after a slide a gravel driveway…

Okay, to the point.  Sliders.  What are Well, basically when you go they allow your to slide along the ground protecting the frame and body

There are four basic frame sliders, fork swingarm sliders and bar end sliders.  a picture of a fork slider:

Fork Slider

If you’re missing it, it’s the black at the bottom of the front fork.  are made by RhinoMoto. and I got them and the sliders from my favorite AF1 .  Typically, sliders are made of hard and dense plastic.  The sliders slip into the axle hole and have an bolt to snug them place.

Some versions use a connecting between the two sides.

Here’s the Slider, made by RG Racing for the Mana 850:

Notice the drop shape.  Supposed to be aerodynamic than a typical one.  I guess every bit but it wasn’t that important to me.

The this is specific to the Mana 850 is there is a connecting bolt the two sides, along with milled caps that are all the size to replace the frame/motor in this location.

Bar End Slider

The bar end that I have installed are 3/4″ longer than the ones that come Aprilia.  The added weight is to help dampen handlebar but I didn’t ahve a problem that in the first place, so I noticed a difference there.

So, now, my pride and joy is properly If I never have another then this could be a waste of $320.  But, if I had this my 3rd purchase, I wouldn’t spent over $500 the damaged parts replaced or from the last incident.  So, you

As you can tell from my other and my tag line, safety is my main and goal.  Having fun along the way is a by-product of the former remaining

As always, ride for fun, but ride to arrive safely.
