Aprilia Dorsoduro Test Ride!!

been dreaming for a new motorbike i was on my way to china, and i have been around since i got back.

— KTM superduke 990

KTM 990 SM-T or SM

— Aprilia SMV750

— Aprilia 750

— Ducati Monster (new style)

— Hypermotard 1100

i guess you got the

… V-twin or supermotard agressive, but needs to be a little bit NO RACE BIKES anymore,

So i testdrove a Dorsoduro today, and was the bike i thought would capture what i needed, so i had expectations.

This bike had a 1/2 Leovince with carbon and catalysator delete, and it sounded brilliant. I don’t think i ever miss the TL sound riding the dorsoduro. It’s a 90° and you can hear and feel it.

This is one of the prettiest bikes i ever seen. Of course is personal, but the details are really crafted, and nothing looks

I had heard of the front being too extreme for normal riding, but i didn’t feel it way. I think the master has a smaller size than the one on my because initial braking softer, but when you pull a bit the stopping power is there. good feel, and good nothing wrong with setup! The forks don’t all that much, even for a with long legs.

Rear brake worked, more is there to tell it?

I am no riding god, so i give you any technical …. The felt good, somewhat on the side (but in a good it felt planted), but maybe was because of the hard saddle.

The steered perfectly neutral, and easily flicked from one to another. Let’s say on a par with the The bike does feel a tad than the raptor when on the move.

No significant forkdive on the brakes.

In general: very good My slow … could do trackdays on it, no problemo. Traveling be good too.

Very relaxed, or very you choose. Very roomy hard but comfortable. I think no for long highway blasts. protection is OK, no problem at all at 120kph speed.

Sooo, untill a really perfect bike for me, works superdooper, and feels a bit tight than my ageing

But then there’s the engine:

dorsoduro: 750 L-twin, 92hp, 80Nm torque at 4500 RPM

996 L-twin, 105hp, 90NM at 7000 RPM

so all in all, not too big of a step and as i almost never go above rpm on my bike (except for track), i i could do with a little power.

but i can’t.

Maybe it was because the only had 500kms on it, and it had to be run in first, but it pretty gutless to be honest. I go over 6000RPM because of the period, but it felt like it was out of steam already.

The initial you get at 4500RPM is great, but half a later, the fun is over, and the power big contrast to the TL engine which to go higher and higher, and constantly you forward. I was really disappointed this strange engine with peak torque very early, and then away.

I tried the T (touring) mapping, makes the bike perfect for along in traffic at very low The S (sport) mapping is a bit snatchy in difficult to use the bike’s full with the engine lurching and things you don’t want at low

What a difference with the TL which is 10 years old, and has a ‘Schneider 64′ ECU on it, compared to the dorsoduro engine management: the TL is superdocile in town, and runs smooth at low revs, on my particular even useable from Without a change in mapping, open the throttle, and you get a kick very few bikes give.

The motormanagement doesn’t hide the that it is ‘only’ a 750cc and i was wrong in believing that i not miss the big bang of a thousand cc I do. Very much so. it felt riding the raptor home.

I think i’m gonna till the dorsoduro 1200 out, maybe that’ll my boat
