2004 Arctic Cat DVX400 ATV

I purchased an Arctic Cat DVX400 in 2004 and I thought I’d my personal experience with atv. After I purchased the DVX and did research, I learned that Cat had simply put their fenders and on a Suzuki Z400 just Kawasaki did for their KXF400 is another disguised Suzuki. I openly admit that I aware of this when I the atv. I checked it out at the Arctic Cat and sat on it briefly there.

I couldn’t the fender styling and the overall it seemed like a perfect fit for me, and I had to have it.

First let me give you a insight to my atv history. I have riding for nearly 20 years. In the I have owned a variety of 2 … and 4 … atvs two Suzuki Quadracers, two Yamaha a Blaster(unfortunately), and a Honda 250R.

I have had absolutely no experience Polaris or Kawasaki atv’s. are pluses and minuses to all of these I have previously owned, on the side some handling performance issues, and of course and reliability issues with the two

On the positive side I must both Warriors had motors were simply indestructable though they lacked any get-up-and-go), the 250R had pizazz and seemed to turn heads, the was inexpensive, and the Quadracers got the job done it came to hill climbing and Each of my atv’s was owned and by me for at least one season, some for years.

My riding habits of mostly trail riding to wooded destinations although I up near many culm in Northeast PA. Culm banks are coal and rock that was into man-made mini I estimate as much as 200 feet in some cases. These banks were scattered the local towns usually in the coal mining areas. areas were awesome for The hills were challenging and of very dangerous.

I can attest to that from injuries I have experienced on than one occasion. As the years passed, many of these have been reclaimed by the or cleaned up and leveled off by private and covered over by housing and strip malls. Since the DVX400 I have had limited climbing experience although I managed to try my luck once or in one of the few remaining culm banks my home.

I must say that I was impressed with the torque scaling the hills, especially a four … engine.

My is the first liquid cooled … I’ve owned. I compare this motor to my old air 350cc Warrior motors I laugh. It’s like and day, as a matter of fact the 399cc motor packs as punch as any 250cc two strokes ever owned.

The technology in this motor is far to the old air-cooled four strokes in the weight department. They managed to shave the pounds off motors using lightweight and common sense. This is not the largest displacement atv engine from the major atv manufacturers, but I it is sized properly for this

Mechanical problems have not a major issue for my Arctic I have experienced two fouled both which occurred the atv sat dormant for a while. I also had an with the float getting in the carb which was rectified by removing the bowl and cleaning carb cleaner. One minor problem with the atv is the plastic beneath the fenders.

They a flimsy way of mounting the fender to the bracket and all it takes is a minor hit a tree branch or something to break off the stud and leave fender flapping in the wind. I had to holes in the location of the studs and them to the brackets. My new method is more solid and it doesn’t all that bad either.

Other than that it has run for over two years.

As for gears and the transmission goes through the easily without any effort. My complaint with the transmission is the of a 6th gear. I believe this had enough power to easily the DVX in sixth gear and I’m not of the reasoning behind the five transmission, but that is probably my complaint with this

The suspension on this machine is adequate with plenty of Front shocks are adjustable, I admit I adjusted them once and I haven’t touched again. There’s an adjusting in the tool pouch to make while your out riding but I never had the urge to stray from my initial adjustment.

The seat could be a little I guess, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say I am complaining it.

And then there is the ride. The riding experience on this atv is It handles very well, can be around when needed due to its weight, and if you like showing this is a great atv for wheelies. The end comes up easily without effort at all, giving the atv a powerful image even it is only 399cc.

The hand are situated well, but I do wish could be achieved from the controls. I recommend this atv the Suzuki Z400 and KXF400 on looks alone, because the of the atv is identical to those. It’s a head turner that a great package for the trail the beginner to intermediate sport and the show-off. It is reasonably priced and it is by a leader in the atv industry which me confidence in its reliability over

I personally recommend the DVX400 on my ongoing experience with it. If in the market for a sporty atv, go out and get one right now!
