Indians are limited to only selected few when it comes to low priced Cruisers, it is true that the trend was started by Royal Enfield in India but Royal Enfield motorcycles are quite expensive and serious machines which might not appeal to everybody. So Bajaj launched Avenger in the year 2006 and it became one of the most stylish and cheapest Cruiser that you will find in the Indian market today. Previously the Avenger was a 180 cc Motorcycle initially but later was powered by a 200 cc engine and much later in the year 2010, Bajaj upgraded the Avenger and introduced the 220 cc engine which also powers the bigger Pulsar 220.

The Avenger looks like a proper Cruiser with comfortable seats and wide handlebars which makes it a perfect motorcycle for cruising and now it has even more power which is really helpful in cruising. The current generation Avenger is powered by a 4-stroke, single cylinder engine with DTS-i, air cooled with oil-cooler which generates a healthy amount of power and torque figures but we will talk about the exact figures later. Let’s find out more details about the affordable Bajaj Avenger 220.

The front of the Motorcycle has powerful round headlamps with Chrome finish to it; just behind the headlamp one will notice the huge windshield which is really helpful in deflecting winds when cruising at high speeds. The wide handlebars too are really helpful in maneuvering this huge motorcycle, the switches mounted on the handlebars are of good build quality and adds a premium feel. The instrument cluster consists of two separate units the single dial analogue speedometer is placed just behind the front headlamps which also has a built in Odometer and trip meter, whereas the fuel tank has a built in analogue fuel indicator and other warning lamps which also includes the fuel tank indicators.

The low lying long and beautifully crafted fuel tank holds up to 14 liters of fuel and contributes a lot to the overall good looks of the motorcycle. The seats in particular look comfortable and ideally wide for both the rider and the Pillion. The chunky looking exhaust and the back rests look good and add a muscular feel which is much needed in a Cruiser. Not to mention the thick tyres also plays its part in giving this motorcycle its own unique identity.

Some of the other features which are available with the new Avenger are DC lighting, maintenance free battery, battery charge indicator, oil level check window, new exhaust, aluminum foot pegs with rubber damper, fuel gauge, new graphics and engine kill switch.

The Avenger is the only Cruiser motorcycle from the stable of the legendary two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj and they have played all their cards right on making this one proper mean and masculine looking machine.
