Bajaj Avenger 200 DTSi – kms Ownership Experience by Sandeep

Hi, I am Sandeep Singh, a naval at the Indian Navy. A few months I was caught in a big dilemma about the common question which any faces these days he plans to go for his steed “Which I was confused between Hunk and R from Hero Honda, from Royal Enfield and 200 DTSi from Bajaj. I through many sites and across BikeAdvice.in and was very by the simplicity and ease of language use here.

I wanted a bike the most comfortable and relaxed ease and vicinity to the service and centers, easy maintenance and off good looks.

After a lot of research, drives and discussions with finally I decided to go for Bajaj 200 DTSi over the others. I Thunderbird because of the reliability it is infamous for along with the issues it faces quite I felt Hunk a little compared to the others, also the level was not upto the standards I had set for

Though Karizma was a little to eliminate but I wanted to ‘cruise’ rather than munch with an extra thrill. I a sedate bike which take me to a silent world letting me worry much other ado.

Finally, after a little I got delivered my Avenger in May 2009 in through Coimbatore. It costed me 73k on road including everything. I was confused on which color to go I chose the ever so versatile color over others as I red and blue to be a little too flashy silver looked dull and had a touch involved in it (or probably I so, as a lady naval officer in my had a silver Avenger!).

As shown in the the bike also has an optional but I preferred not going for it as it looked too big to me and did not go with the overall looks of the

Since then the bike has my mate in my goods and my bads and has serving me for all these days. I had good as well as not so good with the bike which I list down a few words But I must admit that I feel that I have the right decision.

The ‘feel God’ factor while comfortably at 80-90 kmph is a that cannot be expressed in and the seating posture, engine the open chested stance with the whole aura of the has made me fall in love for it. The of power at a little swing of the the ease of pulling heavy at steep rides, the soothing the rock steady behavior at speeds and the ease of handling all this bike stand out of the

I have ridden the bike for decent distances but the best one for me was the 330 kms ride which I covered morning to evening, nonstop! The calm roads, the awesome mountains, the beautiful roar the exhaust, the cool wind right through the ears this trip the best for me so far. The engine did not feel a stressed even after at high rpms all through the day for 330 kilometers of the journey.

All through the I felt as if the bike was trying to a message to me, the message of satisfaction, the of adrenalin and the message of contentment.

Now I talk about the materialistic of the bike and you might find a comparison with Thunderbirds now and then due to the similarity of characters of the

Favorite things about

1) Very Comfortable Rider The seat has been designed in mind the kind of a person the bike, tourer or a long rider and Bajaj has been successful in making one of the best It has been kept wide and it is not as as the current Pulsar 220. In it is an optimum mix of softness and hardness doesn’t give pains riding the bike for many on a stretch.

During my whole from Salem to Coimbatore, my never craved for rest.

2) Rest for Pillion: One more point about the bikes is that the rear seat is by a padded back rest for the which is amazingly comforting for the and the upright posture for the pillion that he is kept at ease no how long the distance is.

3) Excellent Absorbers: Coupled with the I felt this bike has a set of shock absorbers. Though are not the much touted Gas shock they do their job reassuringly And along with the fat tyre, my eats up potholes as if they do not

4) Fuel Indicator: It’s a innovative feature that the indicator is kept on top of the petrol With the all chrome console, it beautiful and adds to the looks of the

Bajaj Avenger

5) 55W all DC setup: The headlight is one of the most in the Indian market and riding the darks is as easy as it can become. The of light through the chrome small headlamp is also wide. Though, Bajaj can to using clear glass would further increase the throw.

6) Mileage: It turns out to be frugal when it comes to fuel. My bike has been me fuel efficiency figures of kmpl in cities and 40-41 on long roads or open Considering the specs of the bike, according to me, are very respectable

It’s not that I love about the bike, there are which I have not liked much and there is a certain for improvement:

1) Notchy Gear As has been the case with since inception, Avenger carries the legacy Bajaj gearbox. Especially after the Hondas and Yamahas of our world, it I have gone back a few when I switch to my bike. gears is a little issue, neutral requires both and energy (and sometimes and combinations as well!) and the overall of the gearbox is not up to the mark.

A bike of this caliber deserves a better gear Nonetheless, Bajaj is working it. The new Pulsar 220 DTSis gearbox is a lot better and I expect them to all the bikes with a similar

2) Huge Turning radius: a huge wheelbase of 1475mm, a cruiser, this bike has the turning radius among any bikes and understandably so! On the highway it in the stability big time but once you are in a congested traffic, you would entering that very

As has become a trend of late, bike also comes with an only self option. So far, I have ever felt the need for a and the bike has started almost at the crank always! One more which I have noticed is this bike is less to rusting than Thunderbird.

I seen a lot of my friends reporting the problem on their Thunderbirds and use Rustlick spray often.

I would also narrate one story about my bike. the initial week I found out the speedometer and odometer were not I changed the cable 4-5 times the first two months, but annoyingly the persisted. In despair, I talked with the service center guy who called up the engineer in Pune.

It was out that the problem was with the console itself and all the bikes belonged to my lot had this problem. finally changed my bikes and since then it has been a ride for me.
