Bajaj Discover 100T

Bajaj has, to this been very successful its Discover range of commuters. the new Discover 100T is up for grabs as the premium’ 100cc in the market, but how it fare on the black top?

the time Bajaj started motorcycles, the company’s product has always been, well, Bajaj has chosen to offer the a number of engine variants for of its product ranges. And each range, if Bajaj’s claimed strategy is to be considered, is different the other in character.

The Discover has been one of the favourite exec-commuters, and there have been at three different engine at any given point of time, all looked almost identical like the Pulsar range).

when the 125ST came it was a refreshing change in the line-up in of both design and engine But then the same thing again – the 100T showed up exactly like the 125ST. I siblings do need to look each other, after

But it’s one of the best looking bikes out there, so we decided, why One week on the road and here’s we…er, discovered.

is a country where a bike’s displacement plays the major in tilting the scales in a customer’s decision. Next on the priority is mileage and then power the commuter). You may ask, so why the hullabaloo the ‘premiumness’? It’s because are hardly any others in this that come this sculpted and fairly equipped.

The bikini faring on the headlamp, the stickering, and a new side cowl the 100T stand out, for a

Added to that are alloy pilot lamps, a nice console, self-start, a sari engine guard and a chain case, all part of the standard (there’s only trim). The are all Spartan overall in terms of but have been finished In appearance, the 100T is mostly the sans the mono-suspension in the rear and the tyre hugger.

On the road

The 100T runs on a 102cc 4-valve (a first in this 4-…, air-cooled mill churns out a peak power of PS at 9000 rpm and offers a maximum of 9.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm. That’s one of the numbers I have seen in

The engine is mated to a 5-speed and riding this around the through horrendous traffic was not a bad deal, as the low-to-mid range helped me pull away clusters very easily. The sounds and acts clunky, (but not exactly similar) of the old and CT100 gearboxes.

The gear however, are very sensible – I pull away on third and gear from speeds as low as 20 and the engine never stalled. The pulls clean, if you power up as some mild knocking to set in.

In my opinion, the Discover 100T out really good power in traffic, but it definitely doesn’t that slightly sporty feel that I’ve got while riding a few other in the slightly larger engine segments.

Ride and handling

Although the lacks the monoshock at the rear, the Nitrox suspension and the telescopes in the soak up potholes and bumps a dream. What’s more, the runs fairly smoothly, up vibrations very rarely. The new also has a very quiet, tone, and is far, far away some of the ‘aggressive’ silencers I seen recently.

The same, cannot be said about the Though the 100T has been for on-street manoeuvring, I found the fork to be a little unstable. I’m not if the problem was with the unit I was riding, but I experienced some while recovering from high-speed turns.

The thin also make the 100T a little too light on its feet.

Braking too, is disappointing. The don’t offer enough or feel. I think Bajaj added a front disc, while they’re calling it a commuter.

Moreover, the 100T’s to stray away from the during sudden braking.

Yes, the Discover 100T good, has a good city motor, is very comfortable on roads, but it handles a bit like an kid. I guess it’s the younger sibling feel to it. At an (Delhi) price of Rs, 50,500 and a of 58 kilometres to a litre (under our conditions which included amounts of traffic jams), with the looks, the price tag is to an extent.

But at just Rs 5,000 the 125ST, which handles well and is bundled with features, makes a more case if you are looking for a more performer.
