Bajaj Wave: Exquisitely Designed For The Ladies

December 26, 2010

A two-wheeler is considered to be a technology that is exclusively for the guys out there. The young generation – especially the young boys, has set it as a benchmark for themselves. According to them a two-wheeler should be stylish, be heavy duty with handsome looks and the gals should only ride as pillion.

However, some two-wheelers are out there which cater especially only to the female class. The boys would certainly shy away from such vehicles. These vehicles are light, trendy, stylish and as delicate as the girls who ride them.

There is no way a hunk would ride it.

Out of the many scooterettes available out there, the Bajaj Wave is one to reckon with. Many glimpses of its predecessor, the Bajaj Saffire, can be spotted with complete ease. However, these similarities are specifically noticeable in the designs.

In spite of all this, the Bajaj Wave is still a new scooteratte.

It would be surprising to know that Bajaj has incorporated the DTSi (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) technology in the Wave model. The DTSi technology has been used by Bajaj in heavier vehicles of 150cc capacity. The DTSi technology is a patented technology by Bajaj.

Apart from this, the Exhaust TEC expertise is also in place for the Bajaj Wave.

The very glance at the Bajaj Wave gives the impression that it is specifically developed for the college going girls or the housewives. Even senior citizens can easily use this bike locally. The low seat height is a clear-cut example of this.

The Wave comes in an aerodynamic design coupled with the new dual color tone combination.

As the vehicle is more likely to be used by the females, the Bajaj Wave comes in a self start option. Yes, the traditional kick start alternative too is in place.

The Bajaj Wave comes in 110cc four-stroke, single cylinder, DTS-i engine. It has a 109.7cc displacement. It churns out a peak power of 8 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a climax torque of 0.9 Kgm at 5,000 rpm.

It is needless to mention that the DTS-i engine and the Exhaust TEC technology help in improving the fuel efficiency of the bike.

The fuel efficiency of the Bajaj Wave is around 50 kmpl. The 50 kmpl mark is acceptable in any conditions as the scooteratte itself is of 110cc. The fuel tank of Wave is only 5 liters. It too is acceptable as the Wave falls in the scooteratte category in spite of its heavy engine.

Moreover, it is expected that the users will use it only in the city and not for longer drives.

For control and grip on the road the tyres are beautifully designed with enough designs on it. Moreover, the size of the tyres helps too. The front and the rear tyre size is 3.50- 10 – 4 PR.

The braking system too is incorporated the same for both the wheels. Bajaj Wave uses, mechanical expanding shoe brakes Dia 130 mm.

Along with the control of the vehicle, the safety is equally important. Suspension is one element which helps in this. Leading link with coaxial shock absorber and spring is used for the front suspension; while the single shock absorber and coaxial spring takes care of the rear.

The Bajaj Wave is a combination of modern style and raw power.
