The all new Bajaj Discover 125 ST review, first looks, specifications, price

Its now evident that Bajaj is not only trying to capture the higher cc motorcycle segment but also the lower cc commuter motor cycle segment. The launch of the all new Bajaj Discover 125 ST is a clear indication of this. The ST in the name stands for Sports tourer.

Yes Bajaj hopes this bikes not only for short distance sporty rides but also a time to time long rides in excess of 100 kms. Well its evident that by tourer they don’t mean the classic 1000 mile journey. But this bike has been well crafted for both these purposes. The throttle delivers the typical DTSi sound – of a sturdy colt snuffing and straining at the leash at the starting gates.

A quick walk around the Bajaj Discover 125 ST   will reveal that the rear end now features a monoshock while close inspection of the motor will let you know that this 12.8 bhp engine now breathes through 4 valves and 2 spark plugs get the party going. That’s a lot of tech for what is otherwise a commuter, but on the road, it all pays off with high dividends.

Yes that’s true. The Bajaj Discover 125 ST features the  1st 4-valve DTSi Twin Spark engine on a Commuter Motorcycle.Unlike conventional motorcycles which have 2-valves, the Discover 125 ST engine has four valves. A 4-valve engine has lighter valves than a comparable 2-valve engine.

This enables the valves to open and close faster, allowing the engine to rev faster and smoother, thereby delivering a potent 13 horses of power. Working in conjunction with DTSi Twin Spark, this allows the rider to ride faster, yet without sacrificing any mileage.

Another mile stone set by the all new Bajaj Discover 125 ST is that it has the 1st Nitrox Monoshock on a Commuter Motorcycle. If the stylish looks didn’t get you, the super-sporty Nitrox Monoshock suspension will. The Discover 125 Sports Tourer cuts through convention in offering the first gas-charged Nitrox Monoshock on a commuter category motorcycle. While Nitrox ensures the legendary ride comfort of a Discover, the Monoshock delivers sporty handling characteristics that can give more expensive motorcycles a run for their money.

Now lets have a detailed review on the Bajaj discover 125 ST.

First Looks

The bike at its first look looks a bit different from the earlier Bajaj discovers. With a stylish cowl, the headlamp has the feel of Batman’s mask and the pilot lamps come up as eyes stare hungrily on the road ahead. The handlebar fits well with the comfortable posture that the bike engenders, unlike the forward stance of the higher Pulsar 180cc.With a sporty feel, stylized decals, higher power and competitive mileage, Bajaj is trying to enter the niche of ‘sports commuter’ segment now occupied by the Stunner.Like the 125cc Bajaj Discover, which was re-launched last year, this one too has an all analogue instrument console and the handle mounts too are more or less the same. However, the knees fit well into the 10-litre tank recess, making the rider feeling compact and in control.

While the grab-rails are still the same, the tail lights exhibit a fiery grin. The front DC headlamps and the indicator look very nice. One may notice the desigh elements of the Pulsar 200 NS in the head lamps of the Bajaj Discover 125 ST.
