Bike 2014 Harley-Davidson Street 750

OTR Mumbai: Rs. 4,92,150/-

The Street 750 be the cheapest Harley but cost is evident, in abundance.

I will be with you, I am not a big cruiser fan yet I been waiting with breath to get astride Harley-Davidson’s 750 right from the day it was unveiled to the Milan Motorcycle Show year. In fact I have Harley-Davidson a multitude of times for a to ride their latest and now when I got a chance to do just I feel a bit disappointed. The Street 750 in no way justice to the American brand.

bookings are open, there is yet to be any of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 but here is our impression which tells you you need to know.

I saw the bike a distance and immediately appreciated the which is in sync with a cruiser should look but get closer and that’s when you quality is poor and cost is vastly evident. Harley has the “wrong” vendor/supplier for the Street This is shocking as India serve as the export base for not Asian markets but also for European countries.

In fact I was so surprised at the quality of the that I quickly wanted to if this was a one off with our test I quickly opened high pictures of the bike, shot at the Expo and yes, those too were as bad on the fit-finish front but they were black, it so apparent. The bikes which are have different tyres and for sure.

So what’s wrong the quality? There is a lot wrong First is the wiring, there is a lot of it and very exposed too, near the steering (before the starts) to the rear brake colour wires visible) and the has two open wires which are at first sight.

While critical wires are heat some of them are exposed and you can see the red wires hanging out openly. Fit and isn’t good either at places and you can see poor welding and of symmetry in quite a few areas. job is good but not excellent while the are very flimsy.

The fuel lid have a flap mechanism and out right in your hand! cruiser-like you might think, but time things should for the better.

Get past the poor wiring and closely at the parts used and you be in quite a shock. Harley-Davidson has Endurance for the brakes and forks is really cost cutting to a new for this cult brand. Auto. whose earlier bikes were known for quality, stopped using and shifted to KBX and they are currently ByBre equipment.

The Pulsar that was in 2008 and six years Harley is using sub quality on a bike which is a premium after all. The rear master-cylinder is a decade old. Can you it that the footpegs don’t springs and when you ride the 750, you inadvertently tend to the pegs.

The instrument cluster of one large round pod which has a speedometer with tell-tale in them and a LCD screen showcasing an and twin trip meters. is a button right next and the gets a chrome lining. The gear is of good quality and is touch use, you need not put in to operate.

The bike gets running lights while the are small and don’t offer a view of what’s behind, so for riders who are broad or those with a jacket.

Harley-Davidson says that the 750 has been made for the urban and for newbie riders. The seat is too low, in fact if you are above 5 10 inches in height, you are going to a problem with your taking the beating. This is one which Americans themselves find comfort on as most are in the States. The problem is amplified as the pegs which although set aren’t as front set as you usually see in

Thus tall riders comfortable on the Street 750 for sure. The is soft though but the pillion has little room, nor does it anything to hold on to.

749cc engine outputs 65 Nm, performance is but refinement is lacking

Thumb the 749cc, liquid-cooled engine Harley likes to call X and it settles into an unrefined you can hear the loads of moving in the engine. The engine isn’t smooth and tends to heat up a lot in traffic. Power is channelled to the wheel via a belt drive and we close to 47 horses being on tap the torque is revealed to be 65 Nm at 4000

The engine has decent pep lower with a stupendous mid-range, it the Street 750 to triple digit in a jiffy. In fact, performance this V-Twin motor is the part of this bike. gear is good enough for 55 and the 6-speed gearbox is relatively but finding neutrals is close to (no false neutrals but when neutral is difficult to get).

The Street 750 doesn’t sound a typical Harley. While the has tried to give it the same it lacks the bass and loudness of Harley bikes. The 2-1 exhaust doesn’t sound loud and no where near the SuperLow However in spite of the weight, the 750 is quite agile and easy to in the city, being very on its feet. The steering is light and is good too with the bike stable through long

The Street 750 is underpinned by a double frame with traditional forks at the front and twin at the rear. The hard compound MRF lack grip though and you from pushing the motorcycle tight corners.

The ride is very good and the Street 750 most of the bumps in its stride. The is upright with a wide making the ergonomics good for riders. However both the are poor, they lack bite altogether (cost on the braking system becomes and with so much performance on there isn’t stopping to match. At this price, ABS have been offered, at as an option.

The Street remains stable at and with the engine not throwing out vibes (in spite of being a you can cruise at high speed for

I shouldn’t really be doing but since I was riding another yesterday, the Hyosung Aquila I am left with no option but to parallels to it. The Aquila has much quality than the Street, is no visible wiring there and in of not having a rear disc braking performance on the Hyosung is better than the Street. To disadvantage is the weight of the Street which weighs in a ponderous 218 kgs blunts many a thing for the bike.

The Street 750 simply a true Harley-Davidson motorcycle its elder siblings

First first, the Street 750 isn’t a Harley-Davidson, period. There are a few flaws and cost cutting is in plenty. In fact, with emerging as a production base, we expected Harley to have so wrong with the quality of a which had high hopes on it.

The Street 750 is a new platform for Harley in 13 and we were hoping this would teach its elder a lesson or two in terms of quality, and engineering. Sadly though, the 750 falls short in many Anyone buying the bike in India is going to be paying of Rs.

4.5 lakhs, which is a significant sum of and for that amount, the Street 750 doesn’t cut it. If you want a Harley on a and are ready to live with the then the Street 750 is worth a but remember, you are paying for the brand and not for the

The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is a bike to a price. It does offer performance and a good ride but as a package, it has quite a few shortcoming are difficult to ignore.
