Gangsta gear up mod

Just an update and a tale of

One of the mods carried out on the Benelli was the install of a gear up kit from which dropped the final ratio to 3:1 this was to take of the power up provided by the 70cc big kit and increase top end speed.

The kit arrived and all were correct except the of the splined shaft that the clutch.

Talking with the supplier Benelli was sold to a chinese in 2009 and the 2010 model some subtle engine that broke the compatibility previous models in some

The Mallossi parts people not updated the parts list to the change.

The end game was no one was sure gear up kit was compatible.

the engine number is QJ1E40QMB-4

The shaft of the new gear was too short and the gear of the old part was not compatible with the new fit gear.

Having access to lathes, and other toy’s I thought I merge the 2 into 1 ( my bag is electronics so stuff is easy right?)

I a thin cut off disk in a 4 inch with the part spinning in the to cut off the 2 gears. The shaft is surface but is really crap metal you get through the treated layer.

the gear was parted I bored out the of the new gear and the old shaft and joined with a 16.5 mm press fit that was full length of the and 20mm into the splined I used 0.1mm interference fit took around 3ton to together.

On the advice of others I drilled and a small roll pin through the shaft interface and turned it to the correct diameter.

got the scoot together and it went like a cat for a month, then disaster the failed. Luckily it didn’t out the gear box

I then got the shaft up and machined. Went like a cat for a month then it failed ( what is it with the month )

So where to from here?

I back to Mallosi site and I can order a kit for a yamaha jog which be at least the same dimensions as the wrong kit and i have grabbed an old shaft from a bike

The new kit will increase the top end further as its ( the pepe wheels are 16 inch I think I will just fit the insert shaft this with super glue.

as follows;

1) Any comments on the new ratio do you think it bog down too much on take

2) Does any one know of any other that use the QJ1E40QMB-4 engine so I can for an off the shelf gear up kit?

3) Any dudes have comment on the only approach?

I am a bit worried the might rotate over with the take off torque.

4) I just order up a 90cc and stop the mess around.

At the top of the I said a tale of caution. The is for those of you that recon stuff is easy. it’s
