HSR-Benelli press launch: 1

Story by Vasilis Moraitis, by www.jetskiworld.gr and Eugeni Sune, 09, 2008

Murphy’s law states “If can go wrong, it will.” I don’t whether bad luck struck in Spain during the International launch of its new models, but things did not turn out as they expected.

got off on the wrong foot well the writers and editors ever set in Murcia, Spain. The Press was originally scheduled for the beginning of but shortly after we were that it would be postponed the end of May. I have attended press launches for motorcycle MotoGP teams and personal but this was the first time I was a postponement with no serious or explanation.

When I finally in Murcia I started realizing the big problem was. It should be though, that the HSR-Benelli was excited and enthusiastic about the presentation and made sure to the journalists and make them at home.

The schedule for test rides was to start the very next day at a.m. but we were informed dinner that the truck the new watercraft had yet to arrive. Call me but this incident did ring an bell. I was a 100% sure the boats would have there at least two or three earlier in order to be fine and set up for the journalists.

At least that is how the job is at the motorcycle scene or even the personal watercraft launches I have attended in the past. the test ride was delayed and we rescheduled to start at noon.

The conditions were perfect for the rides. Choppy water, formation of waves and heavy were all we needed in order to put the new in a real course test HSR-Benelli’s Alberto Monti got wet in order to begin the test of the Race Edition Ski. As as he left the shore and grabbed the lever on the straight and he started The hood flew off and the engine got filled up with water.

The rescue craft and its crew to pull Monti back to and the Ski was rushed out in order to changed the oil and the engine back into condition. Unfortunately, that the test ride of the Ski was canceled and the started preparing the Runabouts Series-R Naked and Pro Editions.

As as everything was ready the two runabouts, with a local racer, out to the course. Suddenly the rider was from the HSR-Benelli saddle. thought that the rope the small buoys was probably by the pump. That was not the case.

remounting and heading farther to continue his test ride he got again and was forced to return to shore.

HSR-Benelli mechanics, with chief mechanic ‘Willy’ Sieber, discovered the reverse was getting engaged on its own any reason. Well, just the scene — riding on the at full throttle and suddenly as if you have slammed into a wall. This may explain new catchphrase…“Moments before flying”.

HSR-Benelli’s bad luck did not finish as later on the Race Edition experiencing overheating problems. the closed loop system was and the crew rushed to find the and replenish the missing cooling For some reason both of the experienced overheating issues.

all the delays, the time had finally for me to get a taste of the experience of the new Runabouts. the invitation was for two I brought along a close friend of mine, Malouchos, who is a motorcycle and personal mechanic as well as a PWC racer. He has won 17 titles in Pro Ski and Runabout classes and his as a racer and mechanic is always

I was really happy that by the we had both finished riding we the same about the performance of personal watercraft.

The riding is a mix of Yamaha Blaster and Kawasaki The seat foam is quite which reminded me of KTM’s bikes. While the seat is at a reasonable level the deck compartment side panels the seat- is quite wide. The for this is because the hull and were originally designed to the larger V6 Benelli engine.

The edges that are formed caused the bruised legs we got our short ride.

The three-cylinder is good for the entry level though it does not give you the to test the limits of the hull. The power band places the performance under certain transforming the race-bred hull to a level performance vessel.

As as you pop onto the seat of the Pro Edition you like you’re riding an different craft. The steamier makes a world of difference. The engine and the good throttle make this craft a toy for the weekend warrior or surf Bottom end acceleration is all you need to hop one wave to the other. The hull enables you to reenter the water without knocking your on the handlebars.

The sharper engine response you the opportunity to go round the buoys by a tighter line without over the apex.

Though the sea got once we got on the Pro Edition, you could feel a big difference between the two Even under these you get a safe ride no matter how you intend to ride.

The hull are awesome and assist in going the buoy course easier, a more accurate track and the limits without waiting for the craft to accelerate. Under conditions there was no point of on the portable GPS unit in order to get a for the top speed. I was told by the mechanic that the Pro Edition could out the 2-… XP 950.

Certainly the Pro Edition felt faster and with better performance comparing it to the Naked but I would not be able to judge its in such a short test.
