2011 Piaggio Typhoon 125

Being an icon in the industry, the Piaggio Group has introduced a commendable lineup of scooters along with other vehicles. With around 500,000 units sold, the 2011 Piaggio Typhoon is a 125-cc, four-stroke bike compared to its classic version that is only a 50-cc, two-stroke engine. This expansion in power has led the Piaggio Typhoon to the front of the race when it comes to scooters.

Piaggio is based Pontedera, Italy. The company has seven different brands of not only scooters, but also compact commercial vehicles and motorcycles. Being the fourth largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters in the world, Piaggio churns out over 600,000 bikes on a yearly basis.

It is able to do so thanks to around 7000 employees, five research and development centers, and operations in over 50 countries.

Its brands include Aprilia (scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds), Gilera (scooters, motorcycles, quads, and mopeds), Derbi (scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds), Laverda (sport motorcycles), Ligier (four-wheel micro automobiles), Moto Guzzi (motorcycles), Vespa (scooters and mopeds), and finally, Piaggio which includes scooters, microcars, mopeds, small commercial vehicles and even business aircraft. This Italian manufacturer is known for its legendary style and revolutionary ideas when it comes to personal transportation.

The Typhoon is a speedy and nimble scooter that can conquer all kinds of road conditions. The new engine offers better acceleration in the city where traffic is constantly stop-and-go.

The two-wheeled Piaggio scooter is now bigger and better than its predecessors. It is also aesthetically pleasing with its sleek and glossy appearance. The front end of the scooter looks like a shark, which adds to its aggressive appeal. This model has a more in your face look than its subdued predecessor. The slots on this scooter have been placed tactfully and the headlight’s new shape is certainly something to note.

The well-defined, new tail adds to the Typhoon’s sporty characteristics. The more comfortable and wider passenger handles are placed along the perimeter of the saddle. The engineers at Piaggio have even added graphics to the scooter to make it a more appealing choice for young people.

This certainly makes the Typhoon an impressive scooter to have.

Looking deeper into the scooter, the chassis is completely new. A network of steel tubes has pressed steel reinforcements along with 12-inch wheels. The large wheels give it good traction on the road, regardless of whether it is in the city or on the highway. The two available engines in the Typhoon are the two-stroke, 50cc and the four-stroke, 125cc.

This enables the latter version of the scooter to travel longer distances compared to its smaller counterpart. For those who enjoy taking trips on the open highway, the 125-cc scooter can serve this purpose well. With a large fuel tank, riders can take this scooter out without the worry of running out of fuel anytime because it offers decent mileage on the highway.
