The new magneto ignition with advance and retard enabled the to run particularly smoothly.

In their first test the motorcycling press praised the achieved by BMW’s engineers, the smoothness of the engines and the bikes’ handling. When entered for the Six Day in 1951, the bikes came this first sporting with flying colours.

It was restored by the owner but had hardly been at all. The fuel cap was nearly to the tank. I originally planned to strip and then re-coat the but I’m settling for a good first.

If it looks like I to do more later on, I will. The paint is so nice I don’t to risk damaging it with chemicals than I need to

The right-side carb had a stripped at the idle jet cover. There are ways to deal with but I thought I’d let Bing it. For $38 they installed a threaded insert which was done nicely.

Plus it motivated me to a few other parts I needed them.

The clutch has been to a diaphragm-spring design from a /2. The is good but the flywheel is even than before, although I think this was possible. It to be lightened badly.

This was equipped with sidecar (in the final drive) and sidecar The gearing might stay for a but the springs are going to be changed to solo. It’s way too stiff for use in the current form.

I finally got the new brake and cables also. As expected are different than the originals, but I no idea if the originals were at their original length. The end were larger — longer — but in all cases fit between the ears of whatever hooked through. Here are the new
