Well it all started in September when I got a BMW R65 after having away from motorcycling for 20+

Here are a few more pictures:- the thumbnail to view a larger and use the ‘back’ button to return

The two showing the water were on a trip to the Isle of Arran on the coast of Scotland (wife on

The R65 covered over 5,000 in 1999. As well as the Arran (rather nasty wee roads for a big I have beeen to Inverness and the of Skye, plus several mile runs. Went off to Ullapool in May 2000 with the BMW (click the word ‘Ullapool’ to see pics)

I passed Institute of Advanced test in October 1999, and my Observer in March 2001

In 2001, I managed the trip to to the BMW Club’s 50th Anniversary I then went on to London and and so covered 850 miles in the trip the bike was perfect for me. One interesting was when doing a sharp hand turn and my (not used) tankbag hit the engine switch.

I n October 2000 I changed the R65 for a R80 — also black. It is a monoshock model.

One of the modifications I made to it is to covert the flip-up to a flip-up/flip-down one. Click for more information.

I also has an clutch problem after the gearbox off to lubricate the splines. The line was that the sleeve holds the release bearing was oversize and was sticking when the was hot. A trim in the lathe that out.

It seems to be a plastic material, and I took it out I had no problem — it have worn slightly It is still OK Jan 2002, so I think we a permanent cure.

In June I bought an R1100RS SE (1996), but I am keeping the R80.

I have Bar Backs and a Wudo screen to it more confortable. Here it is the mods at Loch Inshard. was on my BMW Club Scottish Section to visit 26 Scottish lochs.

I bagged them all and was awarded my — also won the best and that was on the old R80 at Loch Rannoch the Bulletin reported Bill on an R60!!)

I n the Spring of 2003, I the RS1100 to my son-in law who had just his test using Direct and I am back with my R80, now plugged and going much

Well moving on and it is now December and a R100R is in the stable so the R80 has gone to a home near Edinburgh.

The R100R has been successfully plugged and a number of modifications out.

Mechanical :- the rear flattened to carry a top box lower; frames added, side now stays down and is interlocked the kill switch; progressive springs.

Electrical :- special low running lamps made ; GPS cradle; indicator timer, power red led’s in rear lamps; hi-lo voltage headlamp relays and running disable relay.

This I have covered over miles and will be glad to the Metzler tyres as they are a bit in the wet.
