The Story

I did. I bought a BMW K100RS. I wanted to, that’s why.

I to have a Honda CB550K I enjoyed driving around but after my father’s trip Louisiana to Connecticut to visit me, I about buying a bike I could tour around on. asking his advice, he told me a BMW be a good choice.

I began a in earnest, and decided I liked the K engine a lot. Nice, technology. Using the Internet BMW web site, I started reading and I narrowed the search to a K100RS, a or a K75S.

Due to costs, I narrowed it to 1985-1987.

Believe it or not, I one on eBay at a good price and bid on it. The was in Virginia, very near to After talking to the owner, we that my bid would not be binding I had a chance to look it over.

I won the bid.

Through the IBMWR list. I found a lister lived near by (Gerry and he offered to go look at it for me. His resultant email was very promising, and the was at a good price, so I bought it unseen.

Wait, it gets more strange.

So, here I am, a new of a bike I had never seen I asked the now-previous owner to it to a local BMW dealer, Rockville in Gaithersburg to have it checked It turns out that Rockville H-D is 1/2 mile from the Gaithersburg my plan was to have the bike over carefully for brake (that Gerry commented check the bike out overall, and I have a friend drop me off at the and I’d drive it home.

Rockville H-D ended up replacing the pads, bled the brakes, and a headlamp problem, all on 10/29/99 at miles. I was ready to roll!

So, I had a of mine fly me to GAI, we had lunch, and I walked over to Rockville H-D to get the We verified everything was ready to go, and off I having never met the previous at all! Bizarre!

Everything was by email and FedEx!

To this in my riding career, I had never over about an hour. I was about to tackle a 300-mile, drive in some of the most parts of the country. But that’s story.

Bottom line: I just have the time to ride it. a great bike in excellent but like my old 1991 200q20v I that it did it no good to be driven once in a while when I like it. I’d rather seen it go to someone else who ride it and care for it than let it rot in my ’cause I wuz gonna git aroun’ to it day.

Too bad, as I’ll it, but there’s always the future.
