Now that bikes have been for more then 20 years (a number I picked out my…) it is to see the patina that has developed on bikes. Someone somewhere this bike years ago and the seller has a hard time if this 1968 BSA Thunderbolt on eBay now is an original survivor or

After all that I know and saw, I that late old Steve at one have totally and professionally this bike, at least the , the reason for that is we noticed some modern electrical ( on the coils ) have changed, also the VIN on the frame is some heavy perfect that I believe is powder ( I tested aircraft paint on it  and it did not do anything to the coating). The center was missing and I installed one from the BSA.

I also cleaned up all the chrome and the side/valve covers. The chain and appears to be also new or with no just like the brakes.

The BSA offered many incarnations of the A65 platform from 1965 1972. Names like Rocket Star, Spitfire, and Thunderbolt were all A65 parallel offered in different levels of and styling. The Thunderbolt was offered the entire run of A65 and with 654cc Amal Monobloc Carburetor was as a touring model.

Offering at 7,000rpm and a top speed of 104mph, was quite to touring machine. example is dressed like would have come to the US, High Bars and a small A very different look the classic British cafe

I had the valve cover off to ensure the oilpump was working; it sure bike is beautiful, starts like it would have in in that BSA/Triumph showroom…………..; a lot of

There is just enough on this bike to look it might be an original survivor, but to have had attention paid in right places. But it is a BSA, so for new to vintage British Iron, expect the fit and finish of a Japanese of the same era. There is a why the British Motorcycle industry like it did. As the local officer told me yesterday pulled me over and while for a check on my vintage plates, he me up and claimed British bikes ”even new on the floor leaked oil.” BB
