BSA A70 Lightning in appearance

Now is my BSA A70 Lightning back on the again. The appearnce of the maschine is now with the small petrol and the correct colour scheme.

A70 Lightning more complete

Bit by bit the BSA A70 will become more and original, for this year the of petrol tank and side are becomming back to original

Here is a pic from my car boot the day, just fresh the paint shop. I repainted the 4 tank as well as the 2 1/2 gallon But it is the smaller tank that be put back on the bike from to get the original look and feel of the styling the A70 had from new.

on the road again

Today the BSA Star Racer is back on the again. MOT:d Taxed and to go the old full race Gold is back. But now on the road.

Legal as light, front and rear, horn is added.

The bike its life as an BSA A10 Super Rocket exactly 50 years ago. It was on the 24 april 1961. By the 13 may 1968 it was as an Gold Star and re registred. It was on the a few years to to be put of the road (no MOT) by 1 1970.

Civilising a Racer

The bike is really well for the job. My father had a lot of fun with bike on the track mostly in the class, but it is a really well and fast bike for the job.

Carburation is by a AMAL 38 mm MKII.

I do not to race the bike but I will run it in on the in full Race trim. I started a gentle modification to put and rear light on (Se picture This will make the road leagal.

But it will have to be push started.

During this i have been doing small things here and The BSA A70 got new tyres front and rear, K70:s of course, witch the bike look really

Lately i have managed to do jobs in the garage. I have an item at e-bay for the first in my life, a rear wheel to the project. I foud a complete B44 wheel whitch had all the things i so the project is progressing slowly. step is to adjust chains and to solve the missing clutch

I think i’ll go for converting a clutch.

A have assambled heavy crached moped the aid of an other one who have supplied engine crancase i welded and parts is made straight and so on. the result is good and the moped is now to roll on the road again.

The have in time for my 48:th (tomorrow) got an new Digital ignition insted of the old Lucas 18D1 battery ignition. It is the sole A.O Services who got a kit based on Boyer Mk IV ignition for BSA B44 / B50 whitch has picups to fit the Lucas 18D1 distributor and the the points and mechanic auto unit with an all electrinic So far after a few testrides yester day the is a wast improvemnt over the original.
