Technology You Can Use

The Firebolt XB9R was around the key concepts of frame mass centralization and minimal weight-the three legs of the Trilogy of Tech design The literal backbone of this is a very rigid aluminum that also serves as the fuel tank. Carrying within the frame offers a reduction in overall center of over a traditional fuel mounted on top of the frame.

The muffler is below the engine to further the center of gravity (CG) and component mass. The patented Uniplanar engine mounting reduces vibration to the rider and the engine as a stressed member of the further enhancing overall The massive aluminum swingarm serves as the reservoir for engine another innovative idea helps lower the CG.

Minimizing unsprung weight keep the wheels in contact choppy pavement and reduces effort. With this in mind, Buell developed the Torsional Load front system, which mounts a 375mm brake rotor to the wheel rim. Squeezed by a caliper, the ZTL brake transmits forces almost directly to the rim and eliminates torsional load to the wheel. This permits the use of a light-weight, six-spoke cast wheel.
