Buell’s 1190RR: Where Was Headed

Quietly, with PR fanfare, Erik Buell added a new model to its race-only the 1190RR. The bike is clearly on the prototype sportbike Erik was spotted riding last shortly after Harley-Davidson it was closing down the Buell With 185 rear-wheel horsepower and a dry weight, the bike should be a force in whatever series it in.

Although specs for the bike are on the Erik Buell Racing details are scarce. The engine gives us a glimpse at what have been if Buell had to sell streetbikes another According to the spec sheet, very similar to the 1125RR (developed to compete with liter-bikes in the American Superbike with a 3mm-larger cylinder and dual showerhead injectors.

It’s good for an additional 7 of torque and 15 hp at the rear wheel, on a Dynojet dynamometer.

The chassis is the design as the 1125R and 1125RR (themselves based on Buell’s streetbikes), with adjustable angle and wheelbase. Showa’s Big Piston Fork (that we testing last year on ZX-6R) with 43mm adorns the front end, with Buell’s ZTL rim-mounted brake disk and eight-piston

Thanks to the use of a titanium exhaust and probably other parts, 8 pounds lighter than the at 360 pounds with an empty It’s wrapped in some … bodywork that has some Harley-Davidson board kicking themselves.

The end result is a bike (the site a large number of top-level test rode it) that be built in small quantities and to mostly foreign buyers, as the won’t be raced in AMA Superbike. Racing doubtless has a large of motor and chassis components, and the contractual details of his relationship Harley-Davidson are secret, producing bikes is obviously permitted.

What isn’t are street but Erik’s non-compete clause last forever. Will sell streetbikes again in the future? Now that we’ve what he can do, we hope so.

I admit I have mixed about Buell (not by the unceremonious,

to put it mildly, treatment of the and its demise), but H-D’s

treatment of the and Mr. Buell, is just despicable. My

is the situation was pretty flawed the start – it may have gotten

on there, but if it truly is a “non-compete” bikes

interpretations on subject surely, but the idea of actually

So tragic. A beautiful like the Firebolt, with the motor. I want one I can ride on the Compared to the 1125 R this is a real winner.

Erik to get over it and himself, Harley Kind of reminds me of Craig the ship sailed, move on.

Well…It’s bee over 100 years H-D won at the Isle of Mann, And it appears it will be a hundred more they realize some of us about that sort of Perhaps the guys at Victory listen?
