The Cagiva Raptor 1000 is a bare bones super bike that does exactly what’s expected of it. Being a relatively small bike, the Raptor is a whole heap of fun with its perky acceleration and high top speed of 150mph. With virtually no additional extras, this bike’s sole purpose is to go fast without the creature comforts, making it definitely more of a weekend toy than a long distance machine.

Since it is both an import and out of production, the Raptor’s parts aren’t the easiest to come by, but Cagiva’s build quality should ensure that spare parts aren’t regularly needed.

However, when these motorcycles do go wrong, you’ll have yourself a bit of a problem due to the scarcity of parts. As an owner of any bike, you’ll realise that the cost of having one repaired or even serviced can cause huge craters in your bank balance. This often has nothing to do with the shortage of parts though, since they’re often very cheap.

The expensive aspect of a garage service or repair is the cost of the labour, but since having your bike serviced is essential, how can you go about keeping your bike in good condition without it costing you the earth?

Well, a solution is at hand in the form of the manual. This manual will essentially simplify the mechanical side of your bike so that you can slowly but surely start servicing it for yourself. From this point, you will no longer have to rely on the garage for carrying out repairs as you will be able to identify and solve any minor faults before they cause any serious damage.

Over an extended period of time, the performance of these basic maintenance tasks will become second nature to you and should take you very little time to perform.

What you will come to realise after you have carried out your first few services is how little it costs to keep your bike in good condition. In fact, you have the potential to save yourself hundreds of dollars with the Cagiva manual by simply keeping parts that are vulnerable to damage under surveillance to ensure that before they give up on you, you have spares ready and waiting to replace the original with. In this way, your bike will always be running perfectly as though it left the factory yesterday, so put the manual to good use and learn how to maintain your bike today.

The Cagiva V-Raptor runs the same downtuned Suzuki TL 1000 engine as the standard Raptor, with the most obvious difference between the two bikes being the bodywork. The V-Raptor possesses a widened front end that seamlessly links to the front of the fuel tank making room for larger indicator lights. Engine wise, the V-Raptor pulls that same 104bhp as the Raptor, producing a mighty 150mph top speed and boasting impressive handling ability to boot.

This bike isn’t the most comfortable of rides, but it surely makes up for that with its huge fun factor.

The only problem with owning a super bike such as this are those super bike garage prices that always seem to bite you when you least expect it. Whether your bike fails on you mechanically or electronically, it’s going to be pricey to return your V-Raptor to its working order if you’re relying on a mechanic to do the work for you. That’s why you should learn the skills necessary to carry out repair work on your own bike.

It may seem like a farfetched proposition to those that aren’t mechanically minded, but with the aid of the manual you’ll be servicing your bike within the hour.

Predominantly, the cause of most super bikes becoming “damaged” internally is due to just one part corroding or breaking. Now, you might ask why this costs you so much to repair at the garage? Well, other than those expensive labour costs, the problem is that this one part may have had a domino-like damaging effect on other components within the motorcycle.

Therefore, even though that one part would have only cost $5 to replace, you’ll now have to replace a few $100 parts as well, so how can you avoid this?

Your local garage can’t keep weekly surveillance on your bike – the cost would be obscene. However, with the help of the manual, you will be able to begin servicing your bike yourself. In this way, you can keep your bike in pristine condition by replacing any parts that look a little worse for wear, which will prevent those parts from disintegrating mid-ride and causing a much more serious problem.

Essentially, the knowledge you can acquire from the Cagiva V-manual will ensure that your bike is not only costing you a lot less in repair bills, but also ensure that it’s roadworthy and safe for you to ride. With a bike capable of 150mph, safety should be your first priority and there’s no better way to improve that safety than using this manual.
