2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale Motorcycle Review

2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale Review A review of the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale. Photo ©Ducati It’s difficult to overstate the significance of Ducati’s 1199 Panigale, arguably the most anticipated bike of the year: not only is this the Italian manufacturer’s first truly all-new superbike in nearly two decades, the Panigale takes a radical performance and technological leap forward from Ducati’s 1198 and 1098 series of superbikes. What’s new with the Panigale? Literally, everything— save the signature L-twin engine configuration and Desmodromic valvetrain. Benchmarked against the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE, BMW S1000RR. and of course their own 1198. the ...

First Ride: Ducati Diavel Carbon review — Road Tests: First Rides — Visordown

First Ride: Ducati Diavel Carbon review A Diavel one-make race series. Now there’s an idea. “So, ah. How do you like ah cruising in Bolognese sauce?” says Ducati’s Marketing Director to me as we sit down for a coffee having tackled the amazingly twisty and sun-drenched Ronda road in Spain. And that’s the thing, the Diavel is hard to pigeonhole. Before talking to the team behind the bike, on looks alone I thought it was a cruiser with a good engine. Even though it shares a lot of parts you’d find on a superbike, it’s not a superbike. And, it’s just too different to be lumped into the … category. So, why am I bothered about squeezing ...

Ducati Monster 1100S There it is, the scrape of hard knee puck plastic against pavement – proof positive of the Ducati Monster 1100S’s prowess.  At coffee shops the world over Monster owners will high-five over lattés celebrating what great riders they are, the truth is in the bike though.  With a new chassis, revised air-cooled twin, and trick high-end suspension the 2009 Monster 1100S is a huge leap forwards in refinement from its precursors, making dragging a knee about as hard as sliding off a chair. Glistening in a gorgeous pearl white paint job, there’s a strong family resemblance to the Monster 696, which revived the 15-year-old Monster franchise last year.  The Monster 1100S ...

DucCutters: Moose 350 (Bill Johnson)

Special Thanks To: Ric Murphy for all his help with the project. After reacquiring my old ’69 Ducati Scrambler in a disassembled state, I decided to rebuild the bike as a vintage style cafe racer. The engine was rebuilt and polished by Dave Chrone. I got a Dunstall fairing and Barchetta tail section which will give the bike more of a racer look. I wanted to use the original gas tank, so I sent the tank out to be completely de-chromed. The tanks mount brackets have been altered to lower it further onto the frame and Ducati 748 fuel bung has been welded into the tank to give it a more modern look. The bike also has Tommaselli three position 35mm clip-ons and Tarozzi folding rear sets ...

Classic bike: Ducati 450 Desmo — Motorbikes Reviews, News & Advice — bi…

Classic bike: Ducati 450 Desmo With its loud exhaust and open carburetor, the ‘Silver Shotgun’ represented the end of an era for sporting Italian motorcycles, with production coming to a halt in 1974 Single-cylinder motorcycles were once the mainstay of the British motorcycle industry, but Edward Turner’s Triumph Speed Twin ended that reign. By the 1960s most British singles were consigned to the scrap heap, but in Italy the single-cylinder still dominated. The reason for this was the Italian motorcycle industry grew out of small capacity motorcycles initially created to provide mass transportation in a country devastated by war. Ducati began in 1946 with the 50cc Cucciolo and over ...

2007 Ducati Sport 1000 S Review- Ducati Sport 1000 S Sportbike Photos

First Ride: 2007 Ducati Sport 1000 S Turnkey time machine. Photography By Jay McNally Last February, I spent a day at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, where I met up with former Cycle Editor Cook Neilson and friends for a ride on New Blue, a limited-edition NCR-built commemoration of the bike Neilson rode to victory in the 1977 Daytona 200. Ducati North America had also brought along a 2007 Sport 1000 S to provide us a spin aboard the SportClassic platform that New Blue was built upon. The few laps I spent tailing Neilson aboard New Blue had my mental focus more on capturing onboard video of the bike in my sights than of the machine I was riding. Fortunately a Sport 1000 ...

Motovation — Ducati Streetfighter S il Ducatista

Motovation – Ducati Streetfighter S This bike was modified in 2010 by Motovation Accessories out of Austin, Texas. It started out as a stock black Streetfighter S that was purchased from Ducati Austin and it didn’t stay that way for long. Roland Lee of Motovation said that:”The moment we saw the Streetfighter we realized it was a great canvas to showcase what could be done with top-shelf components and nice paint. Our goal was to build something truly unique with readily available components so anyone with a vision could follow suit.”. That’s how pretty much the entire Rizoma catalogue of parts, from rear sets to engine covers, found their way on the Motovation build. While the ...

2000 MV Agusta F4 Strada —

2000 MV Agusta F4 Strada Torrance, California, October 11, 2000 Motorcycle Online contributor, canyon carver and former GP racer, Michael Cottam, has spent some serious saddle time on MV Agusta’s new F4 Strada. With a list price of $18,895, this 750cc superbike clearly is intended for discriminating tastes. It’s sort of like a $4 espresso when a few tablets of Vivarin will get the job done quicker and cheaper. Needless to say, MV delivers Italian style and attitude in a major way. Having logged over 3,000 miles of aggressive riding, Michael also found the MV to offer a surprisingly high level of fit, finish, reliability and even sport-touring comfort. Read on for his detailed ...

Ducati Paso 750: 1986-1988 Rider Magazine

Retrospective: Ducati Paso 750: 1986-1988 Clement Salvadori May 25, 2008 (This Retrospective article appeared in the May 2008 issue of Rider Magazine.) STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY CLEMENT SALVADORI You just bought a famous motorcycle company, and you want to make a splash, a big to-do at the annual motorcycle show. No time to do anything really new technically, but maybe a stylish set of clothes over some new foundation garments would do the trick. Dress up the previous hotshot like never before. Ergo, the Paso 750. Essentially this new model took the engine out of the successful F1 racebike, and with a couple of major modifications it was bolted into a new chassis with a full-enclosure ...
