1972 Laverda 750SF

1972 Laverda 750SF My roommate from prep school, Bob, bought this Laverda brand new in 1972. Several years later, he put the machine out on long term loan. Miles accrued, and the bike’s appearance developed some obvious signs of age. By the time Bob got it back to the cellar of his New Hampshire lakeside home, some serious TLC was needed. Bob and I have always been best friends and we ride together often, so I would see the SF occasionally. Each time we lifted the cover for a peek, I would ask Bob if he wanted to sell it, and he would then ask me if I wanted to restore it. This little skit was repeated for years until, in 1997, I offered to buy the SF but grant him a perpetual right ...

29/10/99 ELECTRICS — Thanks very much Jock (jock.addison@dial.pipex.com ) for another update on how things are going. keep them coming.. I finally took the SV apart this week to try and solve a problem it’s had for a few months where the neutral light is on all the time regardless of gear. I originally took it to Carnells (the waste-of-space dealer I bought it from) but after having the bike for three days they failed to sort it. Anyway, after taking the fairing off I found the problem — the connectors in the large block connector on the left had side had corroded so badly that they were shorting out. Once I had cleaned these and sealed them up it was fine but if you have ...

Wrenchmonkees Laverda 750

Thread: Wrenchmonkees Laverda 750 Wrenchmonkees Laverda 750 If there’s one company that symbolizes the style of the new wave custom scene, it’s the Wrenchmonkees. Their motorcycles are raw, simple and pure—the legendary Danish design aesthetic applied to two wheels, and roughed up a little. An early 70s Laverda given the Wrenchmonkees treatment sounds like a marriage made in heaven. And the boys from Copenhagen have certainly delivered the goods with this fabulous 1972 750 SF1, built for Estonian musician (and Laverda enthusiast) Leslie Laasner. Laasner sounds like a dream client, giving Per and Nicholas and co. ample time and leeway to create their magic. After all, the Laverda is ...

Very Green 1972 Laverda 750 SF for Sale Classic Sport Bikes For Sale

Very Green 1972 Laverda 750 SF for Sale I’ve written about the “Super Freni” Boys from Breganze in the past, so my love for the overbuilt Italian twins is pretty well known but oh, it’s so green, so impossibly green! Loud, Italian, and classy, with retina-searing paint.   Not a bike for introverts, then. An evolution of the earlier 650 twin that was Laverda’s entry into the big-bore sportbike wars of the late 60’s and early 70’s, this early 750 is equipped with the enormous drum brake that gave the machine its SF initials.  Laverda used the best parts available when constructing their machines, so they had a reputation for reliability that spits in the face of Italian, we-use-leftover-pasta-to-insulate-our-wiring ...

Faster and Faster: Memorable: Laverda 750 Formula S

Memorable: Laverda 750 Formula S Can’t beat the Italians on style. Properly gorgeous, eh? Indeed, the Laverda 750 Formula S, from the late-1990s, was quite something in its day. Its 747cc parallel twin made 95 horsepower at 9200rpm, the aluminum beam frame was one developed by chassis specialist Nico Bakker, the gearbox was a six-speed unit, and with its Termignoni exhausts, the 750 Formula S made all the right noises when opened up. And while it won’t keep up with a modern-day GSX-R. the 750 Formula S, with a dry weight of 189kg, could hit a top speed of around 220km/h. Moto Laverda was actually set up back in the late-1940s, and their small-capacity bikes were successfully raced ...

Laverda 750S Formula (1999)

LAVERDA, EST. 1949 ITALY 750S FORMULA — LONDON 1999 Nicholas Frankl European Correspondent If you ride a bike because you have to, then the Laverda 750S Formula, in bright orange and silver, is not for you. In fact come to think of it, forget it in any colour. The 750S is to motorbikes what the Ferrari F40 was to supercars back in 1988. Fast, brutal, uncompromising and uncomplicated. Both, strangely, have the same power characteristics. Very little low down torque, but the most terrific performance once on song, or in the F40’s case, on twin turbo V8 serenade. I have to admit that on this occasion I got on much better with the orange monster than with a yellow cousin last ...

1981 Laverda 1000 Jota Text: Robert Smith • Photography: Robert Smith Any color as long as it’s black. Not surprisingly, it was in the psychedelic seventies when motorcycle manufacturers first broke with the tradition of black-painted frames. First came BSA’s dove grey, intended, it’s said, to reprise the company’s titanium-tubed, motocross bike frames. Then came Ducati’s teal-framed silver 750SS. But perhaps the most successful color combo was Laverda’s pairing of the company’s racing orange with the sleek silver tubes of its mighty muscle bike, the Jota. The Bikes from Breganze Pietro Laverda founded the eponymous Breganze, Italy company ...

1982 Laverda Jota 120 for Sale Posted on February 19, 2014 by tad Laverda’s Jota began as a semi-authorized hot rod upgrade to the standard Laverda three-cylinder 3C. Envisioned and created by Slater Laverda in the UK, it was a ragged, unruly beast, and the 180° motor made plenty of power, but ran like an inline four with one cylinder hacked off the end… So basically, it was all kinds of awesome. Eventually, the Jota became more of a GT in 1982, with a new 120° crankshaft that smoothed out the power and made the bike a bit more civilized, but something of the bike’s soul was lost and enthusiasts seem to prefer the earlier, less-refined version. In the same way that the V7 Sport and ...

Classic Vintage Motorcycles: Moto Laverda S.p.A. Laverda Motorcycle History All Web Site Content — Copyright 2009 TheWorldOfMotorcycles.com The Laverda motorcycle ( Moto Laverda ) subsidiary was an offshoot of Laverda Macchine Agricole (Laverda S.p.A.), an Italian manufacturer of agricultural equipment, farming implements, and wine-making machinery in Breganze, Northern Italy (Veneto) that dates back to 1873. The Laverda Motorcycle company, known as Moto Laverda S.A.S, was started in 1949 by Francesco Laverda (19101976), grandson of Laverda S.p.A. founder Pietro Laverda (18451930). The Laverda Macchine Agricole factory survived Allied bombing during the 2nd World War, and the company ...
