From a small family business their early single cylinder racers caused massive embarrassment to deep pocketed competition from the Far East. Much later in the Paris-Dakar event a well known, rather porky flat twin was also shown the way by Morini, but by this time with V twins. The advent of the V-twin was a thoroughly modern revolution from the drawing board of one of the worlds most inspired designers, Lambertini, who works to this day for his first love, Moto Morini. Stealth Italian: 1984 Moto Morini 500 Sei V For Sale: 1984 Moto Morini 500 Sei V Quick: Name an Italian manufacturer of classic vee-twin sportbikes. Chances are that your first response was Ducati. There might have even been some fringe folks who sprung Moto Guzzi to mind. MV Agusta might have been another Italian guess. But how many of you thought of Moto Morini? I’ll bet not too many, mainly because we don’t see them in the US. When we do, it is usually the 3 1/2 (350cc) Sport. This Moto Morini is a classy, Italian steed. The 500cc, air cooled vee twin is good for 45-50 horsepower. Componentry on Moto Morini motorcycles is generally considered to be well above average for ...

2014 Moto Morini Rebello 1200- First Look Review- Photos

2014 Moto Morini Rebello 1200 – First Look Italian motorcycle manufacturer has big plans for the future. Moto Morini was not at EICMA this year, so most show goers assumed the “other” Bolognese motorcycle manufacturer, acquired at auction in 2011 by Ruggero Massimo Jannuzzelli and Sandro Capotosti, had gone out of business. In reality, Moto Morini is still alive, idling away at the rate of about 100 bikes per year, mostly assembled from components that were on the shelves at the time the company changed hands. So, I was surprised to see one of the new twins in a glass case at the Milan-Linate airport—not cheap! The current lineup includes five models, all powered by the 87-degree, ...

Review: 500’s are just fun Moto Guzzi V35, V50, V65, V75, and the myriad of small block variants Updated: 2013 Jan 06 Author: Rod Yeomans I have been meaning to write a comparison of my 3 Italian middleweights for some time now. It often comes up in discussion forums how their bike compares to the competition so with the benefit of ownership I will try and be as objective as I can. Laverda Alpino 1984. Photo courtesy of Rod Yeomans. I recently went and inspected a Ducati Pantah 500 as I was curious to compare it to the other bikes and I thought it would be interesting to own a 4 th Italian half tonner but it wasn’t to be. I just couldn’t justify the cost and I will ...

First Ride: Moto Morini Rebello 1200 – Cycle News

First Ride: Moto Morini Rebello 1200 By Alan Cathcart | 11/21/2013 9:46 AM When news came in July 2011 that bankrupt Italian manufacturer Moto Morini had been rescued from the scrapheap of history by two Milanese businessmen, it raised cynical smiles from those familiar with the labyrinthine workings of the Italian motorcycle industry. But, two years later, Morini’s promised revival seems to be actually happening, with 60-year old investment banker Sandro Capotosti and his partner Ruggeromassimo Jannuzzelli living proof perhaps that not all bankers are bad. Yes, production did start a year ago at Morini’s Bologna factory, with improved versions of the Corsaro Naked streetrod, Granpasso ...

1979 Moto Morini 500 Strada

1979 Moto Morini 500 Strada Each spring, right here in Chadds Ford PA, there is a classic motorcycle auction. It is my habit to attend this annual event, not so much as a buyer, but as a looker. In 2003, a Moto Morini 500 came onto the block. This was a machine that I had not really considered collecting. They were never very popular in the states, and are on the small end of the ‘big twins’ range. Still, they enjoy a big following in Europe and England, where people really appreciate fine motorbikes. As I looked over the Morini at the Chadds Ford Auction, I began to feel a familiar nervousness in the pit of my stomach. I wanted it. The Bolgna, Italy factory started as a family ...

LES MOTO MORINI PROTOTYPES

MOTO MORINI 500 Turbo Overview The Moto Morini 500 Turbo (prototype) Bolognese Sauce Throughout last year (1981) the residents of a quiet Bologna suburb were regularly treated to the sight and sound of a scruffy black Morini V twin growling along their streets to and from nearby dual carriageways. It obviously wasn’t just another 500cc prototype – it’s motor appeared to breathe through a collection of washing machine parts, the steering head was loaded with dials and controls, and the tester riding it occasionally fiddled with various knobs on a small electronic control box. Had those same residents visited the Milan motorcycle show last November, it’s likely they’d ...

Dailies. Galleries – November 11, 2010 Know how the 2010 MotoCzysz E1pc uses winglets to funnel high pressure air through channels in the frame to the bike’s rear to break up the low-pressure area there? It’s a futuristic solution for the motorcycle of the future, but Michael wasn’t the first person to come up with it. In 1981, the Moto Morini 500 Turbo used a similar solution to achieve both aerodynamic function and cool the radiator that they decided to hide in the fairing so as not to mess up the looks. That intercooler is there, of course, because there’s also a turbocharger hiding somewhere inside that enormous fairing and, especially because the engine is air-cooled, it ...
