The Royal Enfield Motorcycle Collectors’ Blog

The Royal Enfield Motorcycle A few years  back I visited Sturgis during one of my big road trips. I remember checking out Gypsie Vintage Cycles. home of JC Pappy Hoyel, founder of the Sturgis Rally. While I wasn’t there during the rally itself, I really enjoyed browsing the selection of fantastic rides they have available. Hagrid and Harry Potter preparing for takeoff on a magical Royal Enfield Bullet 500 I was excited to read that the boys from Pawn Stars spent some time at Gypsie Vintage Cycles as a part of their trip to Sturgis as well. Looking at Gypsie’s Twitter feed. it looks like the Pawn Stars went home with what looks like a ’64 Honda CB160. While that’s a fine bike, ...

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Desert Storm First Ride — Enter sandman

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Desert Storm First Ride — Enter sandman In theory, you could make an X-Files episode on many motorcycles. They are for the most part, mysterious. And of the lot, the Royal Enfield single would either be the season opener, or the finale. Allow me to explain. If you were to make a list of the best handling, best ride quality, best quality, best performance or greatest value for money motorcycles in India, the chances of Royal Enfields topping any of these lists is slimmer than Kate Moss on a starvation diet. But look at what is going on. The Classic is sold out. Waiting periods are nearing ten to twelve months and we get emails, facebook messages and tweets ...

The Royal Enfield Dynasty — First Look

The Royal Enfield Dynasty – First Look After 54 years, this Indian vestige of the golden era of British motorcycling builds an all-new model. We had arrived on the other side of the Earth. Not only is India a land far, far away, but it felt a bit like we had traveled through time, too. And it wasn’t just the jetlag and 3 a.m. arrival after almost 30 hours of flying. No, the greatest sense of time travel came from visiting the Royal Enfield factory in the coastal city of Chennai, on the Bay of Bengal, where they have been making essentially the same Royal Enfield Bullets since 1955, when the English factory shipped the tooling over so they could build bikes for the Indian army. Only now, ...

Royal Enfield Motorcycles: Kick start, carbureter make a Royal Enfield…

Kick start, carbureter make a Royal Enfield C5 vintage This Royal Enfield C5 really does look like a motorcycle of the 1950s. Lots of owners add vintage accessories to make their Royal Enfields look older than they are, but few go to the trouble Maciej of Warsaw, Poland did. This Royal Enfield enthusiast changed the look of his 2010 C5, eliminating the nacelle and fitting a period tail light structure and lights. It looked great. That was just the beginning. I started with some cosmetic changes to make it look more like early ’50s models but this was not enough, Maciej wrote. I missed something in the experience. I was fortunate enough to find guys in the town who are not afraid ...

You take your stock, single cylinder Royal Enfield Bullet and with the addition of this kit, turn it into a real. well, fireball. RE Continental GT 535cc — Road Test Review Report — Indian Cars Bikes

RE Continental GT 535cc – Road Test Review Report by Antony George on December 16, 2013 19 Comments It has been just a few weeks since the Royal Enfield Continental GT was launched in India. We were given the opportunity to take the bike on a road test to test out its performance and handling. Here’s our road test review of the latest bike to come out of the Royal Enfield stable.  The first Royal Enfield motorcycle thumped into India in 1949. In 1955, the Indian government selected the Enfield as a suitable motorcycle for use by the police and army. In the same year, the Redditch based company partnered with Madras Motors in India to form ‘Enfield India,’ to assemble, under licence, ...

C5 Classic grin factor Review of Royal Enfield Bullet Classic C5 EFI by Paddy02

Royal Enfield Bullet Classic C5 EFI review by Paddy02 Royal Enfield is now proud to present the all-new Bullet Classic C5: a modern reworking of the old legend, taking its styling cues from the simplicity of our earliest 1950’s machines and combining that celebrated design and heritage with all the advantages of today’s EFI technology. C5 Classic grin factor — Good Paddy02 posted this on Apr 24, 2012 This review has been viewed 518 times Royal Enfield have maintained the classic 1955 power characteristics in the C5, heavy flywheel crank, low to midrange torque engine and slow gear change experience, a bit like a Kenworth to change. The ride is not overly exciting but ...

Royal Enfield Buzz Blog — Royal Enfield Diesel Bikes

Royal Enfield Motorcycles — Official United States Website Royal Enfield Diesel Bikes Royal Enfield factory circa 1999 We get many calls about the Royal Enfield Diesel “Tarus”. It is a cool piece of motorcycle history. Before we start let me answer the questions you may have so that we don’t get a deluge of  phone calls 1. They quit making them in about 2002 2. They will not remake this model 3. As far as I know there are two in the US.  One is in NM (see article) and the other started in FL but is now lost. (There is a treasure hunting expedition) 4. They are extremely difficult to find even in India and harder to import..don’t even try. I have added a couple of pictures ...

Royal Enfield Bullet vs Suzuki SVF650 — Classic Motorcycle Roadtest…

Royal Enfield Bullet vs Suzuki SVF650 Dave Wooding is looking for an all-rounder. Does he go for the contemporary classic, a traditionally styled air-cooled 500cc single, or an outright modern V-twin? The choice comes down to the Sword or the Bullet. Do you remember the scene where Indiana Jones is confronted with a showy sword-swinging adversary and Indiana just removes his gun from its holster and dispatches the assassin with a single bullet? In this case, Indies’ bullet won the contest outright. I was recently in a position where I wanted to swap one of my bikes. The choice came down to the ‘all-new Enfield Classic Bullet’, with the completely new EFI system, new frame ...
