1965 250cc Ducati

on September 2, 2011 by Brian

We shown a lot of Ducati Super here on CSBFS, and they are super for a reason. But we have to before there were cylinders offered from Bologna there were the equally singles. With names Diana, Monza, and Mach 1 and 3 (or MK1/MKIII) Ducati offered a very quick and well single before the Super took over the world.

250cc Ducati offered now on is one of those super singles.

From the seller

Up for auction is beautiful 1964 Ducati This fabulous bike has assembled with no expense and a great deal of attention to yet another project forces me to her. The bike has been modified from stock but an aesthetic appropriate to the period. She runs and works superbly.

It has fewer than 1,600 since completion of her frame-off Some highlights of this are as follows.

The one thing that would be to know is what this started as. The seller lists it as a and lists the vin number so hopefully a might be able to decipher it for us. The I ask is not so much to know what you but more to know where it

The sellers list of upgrades

aluminum seat and tank

Alloy wheels with steel spokes

New correct Metzeler ME22 tires (I put these on – these sensational small bike tires to be purchased overseas)

12 Volt 120 Electrex World generator

Solid state regulator/rectifier capacitor

Pazon electronic

High compression piston

Ducati Mach 1

Megacycle street/track cam

VHB 29A carburetor

Stainless steel

All new bearings throughout the engine and

Much, much, much

(Just a personal opinion, the VHB is said to be a great carburetor, great flow characteristics, but I round case single needs and elegant SS1.)

These singles are a little confusing, and be the reason the seller doesn’t the model name. First in 1961, the 250cc bike was the Diana, or if in the UK the Daytona. It appears to about 19hp and with the unit transmission could 110mph. We know that 250cc did not start as a Monza, this 21hp version was not until 1968. The Mach 1 was year and had 28hp of non Desmo

The Mach 3 was offered later 1965, so another possibility

No matter what the bike out as, the seller has spent a lot of time and getting the bike that wanted. As with any altered you have to find the buyer who with you, but I think will be lots of buyers who agree.BB
