During the Ducati struggled to sell in the USA, left behind in an race that really at least two cylinders to compete popular machines from Guzzi, Triumph, Norton, and Davidson. Ducati’s roadrace and sublime handling were to be of little value and horsepower was in a country with so many of arrow-straight roads. Luckily, the 750 v-twin was on its way to salvage Ducati’s

Until that v-twin put into the “superbike” game, made do with a range of single-cylinder machines with a of displacements. The regular 250 had a single camshaft operating the valves via springs: unlike today, the sportiest Ducati singles of the era their now-ubiquitous Desmodromic valvetrain. All Ducatis did get the distinctive and bevel-drive arrangement to operate the overhead cam.

Driving power through a box, the bike offered a of usable power and sweet that was sadly overlooked in

  Clear title in hand.

It used to be that the non-Desmo and small-displacement Ducatis were very affordable, and could be found in restorable condition in and sheds. But that’s changing: of people snapped up Scramblers and less-racey machines with an eye to them into replicas of the models. Now, as vintage have come into and Ducatis in general have in value, they’re being original as well.

The “trials” on this particular machine me when I first saw it, tricking me thinking it was some sort of Scrambler. The seller is vague as mentioning only that a 250, so I’m betting he doesn’t either. It certainly looks to be in shape, with shiny and an intact seat, although I’m not if they match the bike or other.

The frame, gauges, and tank like a Scrambler, but those covers and the seat don’t that model. So what are we at here?  A Scrambler? A Mark 3?

Any of you vintage Ducati experts to chime in in the comments? Am I looking at than one bike here?
