1977 Ducati 900 Super Sport

Note: This is a bike that one of my customers asked me to get into shape mechanically then to sell it for him. The bike speaks for itself but I thought I would post details here for you to see for research purposes etc. FYI it sold on eBay in 2003 and got bid up to $14,000 USD – it now resides on the east coast of the USA.

Details: Hello and thanks for looking at this bevel drive Ducati 900 Super Sport, 8088 miles from new, 2 nd owner. Factory race upgrades including Conti mufflers, PHM 40 carbs, intake manifolds velocity stacks etc were purchased with bike by first owner and installed at that time.

Sale includes most original items removed including; dual passenger seat, air boxes intake rubbers, PHF32 carbs, intake manifolds, LaFranconi mufflers, CEV turn signals mounts, rear sprocket, tail light assembly etc. These items have been carefully wrapped and stored since new along with a set of super cool chrome “Stadium” bar end mirrors. Bike has Lucas taillight and other after market turn signals mounted as well as Koni shocks as you can see.

Original windscreen got cracked in a garage mishap and was replaced with a Gustafson screen. Carbs fuel taps have just been rebuilt with new seals and gaskets, new original Cavis Benz fuel line stainless steel hose clamps installed. Bike is ready to go with fresh oil, filter and brake fluid.

The original sidestand is still fitted along with the enter stand. Original front round reservoir Brembo master cylinder was swapped out for a late model rectangular reservoir Brembo model for unknown reasons in the past. Original round master cylinder has not been located [yet] but will be included if it turns up. Original Borrani rims are in excellent shape.

Bike starts right up 1 st or 2 nd kick. Original factory lead seal on motor still intact. A new battery was just installed the tachometer was reconditioned.

Engine number 087121 DM860

Frame number DM860SS * 086811 *

Condition: This bike is in nice overall original condition. The original factory paint shows the usual patina of age and there are some cracks and chips on the bodywork. The bike will clean up extremely well if you take a day with some detail brushes polish etc. The motor revs easily and pulls hard. The brakes stop the bike well.

The motor weeps some oil out the mainshaft seal [behind the countershaft sprocket] as per usual. Chain and sprockets are in good shape. Tires have plenty of tread still.

The ignition relay has gone out and a suitable fix has been installed.

Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will do my best to answer them for you. Good luck with this auction and happy bidding. The bike can be picked up by the winning bidder from seller’s house but delivery of bike to winning bidder is completely up to buyer to arrange and at buyers expense 100%. Bike is located 35 miles east of San Francisco, California in the town of Pleasant Hill, near the 24 680 interchange.
