Love at first…no second…ok, eventually

The first time I had the of riding the small (and now version of Ducati’s Multistrada, I to say that I was underwhelmed. Coming off of a 919, it didn’t have the I was used to, and with the stock it was eerily quiet. I tested it to back with the 620 version of the and neither one of them spoke to me the way an 800cc carbon-fiber clad had.

A couple of months passed by and I the 620 Multistrada again. With distance between this and the SuperSport, I was better able to on the Multistrada. Suddenly I really the Baby Strada. It was quick to be entertaining, but not so powerful that it was and that made it easy to

I liked it’s sit up straight position (it was actually more than my Honda), and I really the fact that it had some protection since many of the I like to ride are a few hours home. There was just one didn’t sound the way Ducatis are to sound.

After the ride I asked after-market pipes were for the bike and was assured that were, although the dealer have any installed for me to hear. He however, have a Monster 620 pipes that I could to. About 30 seconds after the Monster roared to life, I one thing for sure: the 620 engine was a Ducati engine.

Ok, I thought to grinning, the Baby Strada do nicely.

I drug my wife the dealer to look at shirts agreed to buy me a Ducati shirt for and casually mentioned–while gesturing Vanna White finding on Wheel of Fortune–that I finally which Ducati I wanted. A few later it showed up in my garage (on my

I’ve put nearly 10000 on it so far and have to say that the bike has great. Good range and gas (55-65 mpg, so 200 miles on a is doable), good power, weight, solid cornering (it can lean well past my level), and good looks all add up to one fun motorcycle.

The bad? It’s a Ducati, so I $400-$600 for maintenance every miles. If you lay it down (I did), OEM parts are expensive and hard to by–my bike wasn’t back together for more a month (though I was able to it within a few weeks). The 620 motor is around town, but runs out of above 70 mph…making passing a event on the highway.

Finally, the needs help. I haven’t whether to replace it or get some of pad, but after a day in the saddle, I’m ready for a break.

From commuting to light to casual cruising, the Multi 620 does it all. And I’m still ever time I ride it.

Sold the Multistrada in August of And yes I miss it. But I’d probably be selling it now with the economy where it is and my job cut back 20%.

UPDATE2: I should NOT have sold motorcycle. The Multi now occupies the motorcycle ever” spot in my Wonder how long until I another one like that…
