Ducati 748 STRADA — 02/02, Updated 09/02,

Finally someone brought me a 748 to with. I wasn-t really of what sort of result I-d so I told the owner exactly Didn-t put him off.

The next was working out where to put the cams. The off would be pulling up the midrange keeping the top end. The 94 Hp surprised me I say, but then I-d never a 748 before. Given that the 851 makes 93 I was a little jealous. I checked how much piston to clearance I had to play with up, and left a little margin for between bikes if I get to do this

The answer I got was somewhere near the I use for 996, so that was as good a point as any. I was just a worried about whether I lose any top end. I didn-t want to pull it apart to try another setting, so I was hoping hard.

Off we went to the dyno. We some more fuel, as The shape of the curve was what I to see most, and wasn-t disappointed.

was no more top end, but I don-t expect that from cam timing changes. The fact was no less was a real bonus. The curve below shows the

Up to 15% more torque, giving more midrange flexibility and acceleration. The top end rush is reduced but starts much earlier.

A all round result that was than I could have for. The bike is now much to ride around in an everyday with more general go. smooth still, which has been an attraction of the 748/750 size.

It should also be better for use, giving much acceleration out of corners and onto the top

Update 09/02

I got to do another 748 the result of which is also in the 45 — 50mm exhaust This one differed in two ways it had Termi 45mm slip on and some over trumpet air The torque curve below the difference.

The red and green are from the above. The blue line is the 748. The smaller exhaust/muffler really pulls up the bottom end @ 5,000 RPM that-s nearly 20%

On the road you feel it as a long, torque curve. Some like it because it loses the traditional top end rush, but if you want to go this is where it-s at. The top end may be due to the filters, but I didn-t get to try that

This bike had carbon air anyway, so this is the best option.

I wasn’t sure how the above graph was, but been about 5 years the last one before we got to do another 748 cam job (obviously not many local 748 are interested) so I haven’t had much of a group. The next one was done the same 108/108 timing, and with the same 45mm mufflers and Ultimap UM211 that seems to work nicely. We dynod it before the and it seemed a touch rich and after.

Some of the graphs I’ll are spreadsheet generated which me to manipulate the data to show based improvements as I’ll

To the first graph of this I’ll add the baseline run for this in pink. As you can see, it’s a 748. Whups the others by a fair amount.

The next is the power and air/fuel for this before we played with it. The is a fairly flat 12:1, a on the rich side.
