I finally got a Ducati

We’ll this is my first for Duchess. I decided it was finally to get something with a little engine displacement. Let’s it, you don’t need 150+ motorcycle for the streets. or even tracks.

So, I traded the R1 in for a 2006 749.

So far, I’ve been impressed with the handling of the It’s got to be the best handling I’ve ever owned.

Group Ride gets a new

So, about a week and a half ago I Matt, a co-worker and friend, up a 2003 Ducati 999s. been salivating over since I picked her up and has always a Ducati himself. He’d debating getting a Speed (he being a Brit and all) but the of the Ducati was just too much, he got a smokin’ deal for it (practically it, he did).

Since I was out of town weekend, we didn’t get a chance to So, for this weekend, I planned to get with Chris and maybe a few of his friends for a smallish group I find these rides for everyone to really get to talk and stay together.

So we got together in the spot, and we weren’t alone. fairly large group was planned to meet at the same and time.

Despite Matt getting the 999s, he sure did to be eyeing Chris’s Hypermotard closely

The group consisted of

Matt (999s), Chris Sandy (999r) myself

as as some non-Ducati:

Brandon Matt (SuperDuke 990) (R6)

I led the group up Hwy 9 to Hwy 35 (aka and then on to Alice’s. Chris to be photographer for this ride and get out in of the group and get some shots of us a pretty nice corner on Hwy 9.

Unfortunately for Matt, he was a bit to close to the in front and wasn’t able to get his shot of him riding the 999s. sure he’ll have to purchase from the photographers stand trackside at most day events soon enough.

We stopped at Alice’s for a bit, at point Sicko decided were too many corners for him and out. We then took Hwy 84 to Rd (aka Pescy). I really Pescy, it reminds me a lot of the more roads in the Santa Monica

We then regrouped at a gas station at point Sandy had to had home.

We took Cloverdale down to Hwy 1. We down Hwy 1 and looked for another spot to get some pictures.

The and their bikes:

At this we were hungry and headed to a spot in Capitola for some for the bike and the boys. Once we eating, the serious riding

We took Porter St/Soquel San Rd to Summit Rd. We then took Rd to Old Santa Cruz Hwy where we the customary stop at the Fire

At this point, Brandon and (KTM) had to get going since had long rides home. The 3 Ducs just had to get some curves in (to make up for all the freeway we were doing before We took the 17 to 9.

At this point, was obviously feeling more than his mornings phrase just stay in the back and to lead. We did a ‘lap’ on 9 and then had to head home. Matt and I did 2 laps before we finally to call it a day.

Good times. Nice to see getting into his groove on the We were carrying some street sane corner through most of our after ride on 9.

I just can’t get though, so Duchess and I will be out for a Group Ride tomorrow and early.

Mid-week Lunch

I missed out on getting some on Duchess last weekend for a reason. I went to SoCal to my youngest son’s 8th birthday I also got some early Day presents

But, I finished my at work, had no mid-day meetings and the here was perfect for a lunch ride to Alice’s.

I got in contact a long time moto-friend, the admin of SBR. He actually me move in here months ago and we had gotten a chance to ride since I moved here. he only lives 15 minutes is one hell of a rider, knows of the best roads in the Santa mountains (been riding over 30 years) AND is a fabulous this injustice had to be corrected

I work early for lunch, up and rode over to Andy’s Once we got there he showed me THE route to get to Page Mill rd his place. He gave me plenty of of just all the different places you wheelie for safety

Once we got to we had some lunch with other SBR members that to be taking their lunch at Alice’s.

One of my own selfish goals for the with Andy was to get some of me on Duchess. So, after lunch and I decided we were going to hit up a of roads I’d been on get some pictures and then back. Marci decided to us on her GSXR-600. She has had a knee replacement and this was her first ride the surgery.

I could certainly sympathize her having had a surgery on my knee not so ago.

We got some great pic I simply can’t capture all of and why should I when Andy’s such a good job of it in this on SBR .

Needless to say, it was a great break. Thanks Andy and

I sent the and email 24 hours ago and still heard a response. Looks I’ll have to give Neutral feedback to this

Since I don’t have a I called my buddy Steve on SBR) and he suggested I get ahold of the SBR Andy. Andy then me to Nichols Motorcycle Shop.

Mod: Billet Aluminum Pedal Lever

So, I exercised my to stumble across something My 20th mod took about 25 to install, mostly because I had to the right side fairing I won a Black Anodized billet brake pedal lever by the Gas Cap Dude in an auction on Ebay.

I like the looks of this lever vs. the cheesy looking that was provided in the Ottimoto kit. Ottimoto would be if they got the Gas Cap Dude to make brake lever pedal for to include in their rearset (which do include a shifter lever). Ottimoto? Hello?

Are you

Ducati Group Ride

I went on a ride with fellow Ducatisti (Ducati The ride was actually posted in Ducati forums as well as of the Bay Area Riders Forums, the one I just joined B.A.R.F. stands for Bay Area Riders From what I can tell, is the biggest riders forum in the

The early morning risers all met for coffee at the Starbuck in Saratoga we headed up Hwy 9:

Hwy 9 was actually really clear and Except for the LEO who was walking towards the line with his arms out we went by. We weren’t quite wanted us to stop and decided not to our chances.

Those bringing up the of the pack were merely the slow down sign by the

Once we got on Skyline there was a lot of fog and the roads were still wet in not a few places.

Once we got to the 2nd meeting in Woodside, we all headed up back up Skyline hoping it the fog had burned It hadn’t. As we all stood there, and slightly wet; we decided if we the ride to continue the ride it be best to find warmer and head east.

We eventually to head up Mt. Hamilton. Despite the switchbacks on the way up to the Observatory, it was well the ride for the warmer weather.

I the real fun began after I these pictures, going the backside of Mt. Hamilton to the roads to this motorcycle hangout The Junction were a blast. We had at the Junction and then had even fun on some roads I don’t the name of, but I got into a good on these roads.

Great Day a great bunch of Ducatisti.

Setup by Evolution Suspension

really isn’t a mod, but I think this is some of the money you can spend (on the motorcycle to help make your better. Get your suspension setup for YOU. You can’t do this by yourself, you need at a couple of friends and someone got some experience or knowledge of how to set the

I have both, but didn’t have anyone around to the bike for me, so I took it over to Rob at Suspension.

For a mere $40, he was to determine I didn’t need new (luckily) and setup my suspension for me. out, Duchess didn’t enough preload in the front or the but it was really bad in the rear with an 10mm of static sag. the previous owner never set it.

Big to Rob for getting my suspension dialed in for me.
