First Ride: Ducati RR Is the price of perfection $72,000?

In Ducati tempted our moto-tastebuds the prospect of selling a road-legal of its amazing 990cc V-Four machine. The bike would $65,000, be built in limited and only available to current owners.

That was three ago, and just last Ducati invited five and five of the top Ducati dealers to Motorsports Park in Utah to try out the RR. I was able to get some photos and Cycle World Contributing Nick Ienatsch to find out he thought of the bike.

So what’s the bike like in

Well, the big question was, Ducati really build it? And they’re gonna build it, 100 They’re going to build 1000 bikes for the model and America will get twice as bikes as the next country.

The run was sold to 999R owners for apiece, but the second run will be

This is a true race which Ducati proved in the overview and on the track. It’s a racebike with lights.

How is it on the track?

Miller has an elevation of 4800 feet, which some power out; I know how much. The bike’s fast, very fast for a motorcycle. Ducati rates it at 200 hp at sea with the included racing so even at Miller it runs

The engine’s super-smooth and really And like a real racebike, the is super-rigid, too stiff for me due to setup, but an easy fix. It’s precise and accurate.

You really to respect it. It has enough of everything suspension, power) to hurt and Ducati hasn’t included control, though the ECU is formatted to it later. It basically has the 1098’s but it’s lighter.

It’s the real deal, as close as they can get to a race with lights; everything’s magnesium, titanium and aluminum, like a racebike. Very

So what’s your overall of the Desmosedici RR? Would it make a streetbike?

I personally think it be a fine streetbike because of the of the suspension. Hey, it’s the of motorcycle that everybody I sets up a motorcycle to be: light, hot-looking, good-handling. It turns and you put up with the stiffness and discomfort to get it to the way you want.

It’s not sport-touring comfortable, but is any other sportbike we’re At low speeds, riding around or whatever, it’ll probably be hot and there’s not a lot of airflow through the at 30 mph!

Is it worth the money?

an interesting question, because it on your perspective. If you add up the parts, not worth $72,000. If you take lap it wouldn’t be light years than a modified ZX-10R, YZF-R1 or CBR1000RR, all of which are good bikes.

If you’re all about logic and you the best track bike for the the Desmosedici RR is probably not for you. If is what you make in three it’s also not a good But if you want a super-quick bike rare and race-tested and beautiful, if you those things, then is cheap. How much would you pay for an

My 46-year-old perspective places bike far beyond everything It’s in a class of its own.

Off! Is it worth the money?
