Just bought my first street bike, now time to fix it up to my own taste and take it out for my first cruise.

Video: Ducati Monster Motorcycle Crash – May 13, 2012

Ducati hits guardrail, amazingly the bike was OK. just a scratch or two. The rider was also ok with what appeared to be just a sprained ankle.

Don’t bother posting any comments about my dog’s business, as he has passed on now and out of respect, your comment will be deleted. Besides, this is a video about changing a Ducati Exhaust System, and not a Nature Call. I cannot understand how many of you are so immature that a dog crapping is exciting to you. oh well, if you’re hear for the Ducati, read on.

After considerable debate on which aftermarket exhaust to get for my Ducati Monster S4R, I settled for the Quat-D Ex-Box. I love the look of the ex-box exhaust and how it cleaned up the bike showing off the single sided swingarm and rear mag wheel especially after removing the passenger footpegs. Here’s my installation video! —- Sort Of There was a lot of trial and error as there were not any installation instructions included.

I mounted the front header out of order, and found that it was the last piece that needed to be installed for fitment. But for the most part of the video, the first evening, I removed the stock mufflers, catalytic converter, mid-pipes and the headers. Then on the next morning(at 5:12), I started the install of the new exhaust. This video is mostly time lapsed of the dismantling and installing, but also includes 3 real time sound clips of the bike running.

First is stock exhaust(at 0:20), then after the mufflers were removed, I started the bike up with the catalytic converter still on(at 2:35, man does this sound good. awesome deep tone), then the last sound clip is of the new Ex-Box installed (at 8:36). Oh yea, at the end when I start her up, you’ll see me looking at the front header/pipe, I had a leak.

So (not in this video) and after some research, I bought some high temp copper exhaust sealant which meant that I had to dismantle again to seal. In my opinion, the Ex-Box is louder than the stock set-up, and maybe a bit deeper in tone, and I maybe gained 1 or 2 horsepower. But I was going for appearance over power or loudness, so I am really happy with it mounted on my S4R.
