The Ducati Scrambler 350 Claudia (one of the Seven Sisters)

The Scrambler Project: The Claudia (one of the Seven Sisters ). This Ducati Scrambler is the most important piece at Di Matteo, because of it’s that directly involves the Family. Although the high requests we about, this Motorbike is not for

History and Owners

Claudia is the Ducati Scrambler ever to Officine Di Matteo and it’s it all began. Registrated as “Roma ni 1972 with as a Telaio 354503, was originally bought by Armando Maggiori, in date in Velletri (Rome) from Luciano motors .

In date Juy 10 1975 the in a perfect state was sold for Lire (about nowadays EUR) to a new happy buyer, Mr. Di Matteo, a man who run a polster company Di Matteo” (Di Matteo’s Brothers, and Marcello) in the navy italian Ducati Scrambler was used at during the weekend trips for the years of possession. At 1977 firs son, Fabio was birth and Claudio decieded not tu run the anymore.

The Ducati Scrambler was covered a special plastic transparent and stored in a backgarden, protected the sunrays, until year when a friend of Mr. Claudio Di named Franco Flavoni, saw the and started pressing for Claudio to it to him.

Although the bike was in a state, Claudio decided to it to his friend, who would have took care of the precious The bike was sold for just Lire (about 500,00 small price was due to the fact the bike had a good state, but a bad situation.

In those years a law was operative: after 5 years of non government taxes, the vehicle have been ereased the state vehicle registration making impossible for the Ducati to run on the road again with the registration number.

After 5 a new registration number would been necessary. This meant that the motorbike have followed the new rules re-introduction to a new registration, like to add arrow safety lights, would have drammatically the motorbike look, loosing original shape.

The new owner, Franco Flavoni, as the was completely unusable on the road, of keeping it without using it, from turning the engine on few months. He also decieded not to for a new registration, thinking that have been better to it as it was originally, also if this that would have “jailed” in the garage, where in it stayed until november

Claudio Di Matteo, although Flavoni bought his Ducati decieded not to give him the plastic number, due to no real appearent The registration, RM 321235 has been in the family backgarden garage.

In 2005, Claudio Di Matteo at the age of 62.

On November 13 2013, Fabio Di Claudio Di Matteo’s son, who was in the Ducati Scrambler recovery decided to try to rescue the motorbike, a very long number of calls to reconstruct the owners Family had no idea about the of Claudio’s Friend, and all chanches to his name were in appearence since Claudio had passed

Finally, with the help of a family Lawyer Giuseppe he found the contact of the man his father the Ducati to.

Fabio contacted immediatly Mr. hoping that he still had the motorbike. The chanches to find the Scrambler “alive” were few.

Normally, over 12 of time, the chanches of having the sold again from Mr. to somebody else, were high.

Also, Fabio from his father storytelling Mr. Flavoni had already other Scrambler Bikes in his garage. was aware of the risk that Mr.

had bought his father’s bike to use parts to reconstruct his personal so the chanches of finding the Old Family intact, were very few.

What better way to out than calling Mr. Franco

F.F. “I still have it. in my garage, and it is exactly like father gave it to me. Not a single has been applied to the bike i got it.”

F.D.M. “Wow, incredible. Are you interested in selling it to me?”

F.F. “Yes, I i could. I have got 2 other Scrambler so i think I can let it go, but there is a The bike has no registration number, no and it’s been kicked out of the registration database, so it’s not

It works. I turn it on often. The is perfect.

Your father, it to me, but when I went in his house to id on my lorry it had no registration on it and no document available for me. Your father had the registration off, and he would not me the reason. And also, there is big problem… I promised it to another in August, but he has not come to pick it up

F.D.M. “August? Could you not it too late to come to pick it up? on, sell it to me! It’s my daddy’s!”

“I’m a person of honour, and I behave differently from I have promised. So I cannot it to you untill I get in touch with person who told me he was interested”.

“Please, it’s my father’s and you knew him very well. let it go anywhere else”.

F.F. “I you, i cannot do it. Let me contact person and I will see what’s the

F.D.M. “But anyway, in you could sell it to me, what be the selling price?”.

F.F. “I i could give it to you for 1.500,00

So that’s the end of the phone calls. Two things should have considered.

1) the price was completely because even though the was out of the office database, the famous law that would consider the unusable had changed in 2008. would have been simple to go to the governement office to the original registration number, it alive as it was before having been erased due to no tax payed.

The price for a Ducati Scrambler with original pieces in part of it’s body is 7.000,00 EUR if in good state. I remember the bike. It was simply a part from one detail: our Tom, had distroyed the rubber the one of the pedals, bite after

Small detail that have been fixed problems.

2) if the other interested would have known or if he was really interested to the Scrambler, the would have disapeared from Fabio’s life in the moment he was so close to it.

Three long days by, and 2 different phone calls to Mr. were made. No news.

when Lawyer Giuseppe came to help Fabio. He his friend Mr. Flavoni, and convinced him to the other seller.

On November 16 the final phonecall:

F.D.M. Flavoni?”

F.F. “Yes, yours! Come tomorrow to it up”.

F.D.M. “Perfect, see you Do you accept a cheque?”

The deal was
