MotoGP Factory 2 triggered by ‘advantage’

Dorna director Alonso has stated that the Factory 2 class has been due to concerns that Ducati have too much of an advantage the Open class MotoGP

This follows a recent update for the Open ECU software. Alonso says only is so far capable of using.

Ducati has ranks with Honda and by leaving the Factory MotoGP to join the new Open category which offers advantages in of race fuel, engine testing, tyres and engine

In order to make the move, simply needed to swap its Factory ECU software for the standard software, being developed by Marelli.

But that is no longer the it once was, especially it is now clearly in Ducati’s interest to its Factory software available to the class development team.

“We at the Sepang test results, the second test, and it’s that of the two software versions the second developed by Magneti offers great performance,” told the official MotoGP

“The fact is that the manufacturer ready to use that is Ducati. That gives some advantage when with the Open rules, so we therefore made this to the GP Commission, to find a balance does not give one manufacturer too of an advantage.”

Alonso added: “As a we aim to allow everyone to have the possible technology, including type of software, but from to the private teams they are not yet set up to be to use this ‘full software’.

“Clearly Ducati were not at the level as Honda and Yamaha season and what they done [by moving to the Open is to look for a way within the rules to their grid and race

“We understand that by making changes they can be closer to the constructors but we do not want them to too much of an advantage, as it would be for them to beat the rest of the with greater ammunition. So we the proposal on the table is a good

An Open class manufacturer be moved to the Factory 2 class they achieve three positions, two second places or one in dry conditions.

This would that their race would be reduced from 24 to litres and engine changes cut twelve to nine. But what if Open riders have changed more than engines during the season?

The class limits are 20 litres and engines. It seems the other concessions would be unaffected by to Factory 2.

Ducati has stated that the reason for changing from to Open is in order to develop bike.

Alonso did not mention the form of Aleix Espargaro, on the new class Forward Yamaha. and Forward Yamaha are the most manufacturers to meet the Factory 2

The Factory 2 class is due to be formally on March 11.

Regardless of which class Factory, Factory 2 or Open all riders will fight for the 2014 world championship
