Fischer MRX 650 superbike to be built in August

This article appears courtesy of our friends at who have been kind enough to let it run after a news agency supplied it to us as copyright free which it isn’t.

A while ago we had and article about the ‘First American Superbikefrom Dan Fischer. Well a year on and the bike is finally a reality. Dan Fischer has worked over the past 3 years and has created his dream, an Fischer MRX 650.

The bike was recently on display and is the third prototype in the series. This bike will be going to production in August for a limited run. The MRX 650 will be on sale for approximately $9995.00 USD.

The production model will differ from the bike shown, changes include; a cowling style pillion seat, no supercharger as shown on the prototype, bigger mirrors, and a novel piece of designa translucent strip (seen as carbon-fibre in the photo) splitting the tank cover and revealing the clear fuel tank and air box below.

The engine is a 90-degree liquid-cooled v-twin developing 77 hp at 9400rpm. It’s very similar to the Suzuki SV650, that’s no coincidence since the engine is supplied by a team from Korea’s Hyosung, one of whose members is one of the original designers of the SV. This engine also sees use in Hyosung’s SV-inspired Comet 650.

In the case of the Fischer MRX, ach, don’t expect the same mild-mannered characteristics, expectations are that it will be a bit of a wild thing and a true superbike.

The American company Gemini Technology Systems, instrumental in the development of the earlier Harley Davidson VR-1000 superbike refined the top end of the new power plant. They are also responsible for the development of the MRX’s chassis. The geometry was developed out of research on a number of currently manufactured offerings as well as the known specs for MotoGP bikes. The bike’s styling is largely the work of British motorcycle designer Glynn Kerr.

The result is a bike with an origami style angular edges and potentially class leading handling.
