I’ll condense and hours of study and research to one You can run the manufactures oil at whatever ratio the says and feel safe. ANY oil run at 20 to 1.(20 parts gas to 1 part .In other words run Honda oil in 2/strokes at Honda ratios. But if you run oil in a Yamaha, run it at 20/1.

Yamaha oil in a Same thing 20/1. all say Ours is the finest oil available. is they will not really you why.

If You Don’t. It’s OK. I Don’t It’s Not My Engine.

Now, I a lot of you out there who feel you can run things leaner. Like 32 to 1 or 40 to 1 or even No less an expert than Bob recommended a 32 to 1 mix and no less an expert Gordon Jennings recommended a 20 to 1 A lot of people run lean and a lot of them get with it. and a lot of them don’t. So gives.

I feel the problem is this. No one knows at what dilution the oils are mixed at or exactly additives are added. At least I and I’ve tried to find out a of times. They send you a of specs but will only say is the finest available. They say why their $3.00 a quart oil is then the $5.00 a quart

Here are a few ideas to consider.

look at dilution. At least my word for it, and I don’t really the weight of the oil either. Most say are a 30w. I mean the ratio of the that counts to the stuff put in to make it look and mix good.

That make sense. not. Well, think of it way. If oil A is twice as thick as oil B and you mix at 40 to 1, oil A will really be 20 to 1, right. Now about the reverse.

If A is half as as oil B and you mix both at 40 to 1. A would now be 80 to 1. A bit lean I don’t think the real ratios, between different are that big. I do think is enough of a difference between oils to cause a problem.

when you consider the additive

What about additives. I the manufacturers match the additive to the metallurgy of the metals in their I once went to a Lawnboy school where they that the Lawnboy oil had almost no ash in it. said this was really for their engines. Another at the school said he had been to a chainsaw school and they him there that the Sach needed ash.

Their oil had lots of ash. to me he said at least 2-3 % of ash, yet likes almost nothing. What about the other in the package ?

Here are some things to consider. Most motorcycle engines have carb jets. This changing the ratios will the air fuel mix as oil is not gas.

Change the and you may need to rejet the carb.

I noticed that as an engine out the quality of its combustion declines. In words it does not burn the mixture as good as it once ( Well Duh. ) As oil does not as good as gas, your tends to oil foul. Also, a engine will have seals too, letting oil in the transmission. Now, you tell me. Do you your Race Bike ( and CR, RM, KX, YZ, etc, IS a full blown Bike ) to factory standards.

Do you know what those are. You know. new rings 3 motos, and all that other Hint. they are in your manual.

My point is this. 20 to 1 you will get enough of what is needed to keep your running, no matter what the wanted. When your say run 40 or more to 1 on your oil, out. They may mean but what will it do to your over the long run. Are you 40-50 to 1. I know of no scientifically run that show less oil is for your engine.

On the contrary, I know of several show more oil, right, in a good engine, more horsepower. If your does seem to run better on oil, you just might to rejet, rebuild, or retune. If you on running lean on the oil, you have done your !

One thing I do know. the worst that’s going to happen to engine at 20 to 1 is a fouled plug and your spark arrester plugging up. Too lean and.

if any of you oil manufacturers care to enlighten me some facts and tests, it sure make me happy if you do so.

To make measuring the oil easier I use is called a Ratio Rite Cup You can get at any Motorcycle Parts Dealer. cost 5-6 US dollars. I use mine for all of measuring tasks. motorcycles, everything.

In fact, I use it several times a every day. I always several in stock, so if I break or mine, I can grab another quick. It’s that at least to me.

I tell people it all the time. I have yet to sell one. Go figure.
