Waldameer Park and Waterworld is an amusement and water park in Erie dripping with water-based rides and activities for adventurers of all ages. Admission to Waldameer Park is free, but of course it costs to ride the big attractions.

Nicky’s Pub, formerly known as State Street Tavern, is one of the more “erie” watering holes in the area. The location boasts a dark history; the gambling joint that once stood where Nicky’s now is had a really bad “last” night, resulting in the loss of life. Apparently these lost spirits were awaken during renovations of the building, and they now happily hang out with the crowd at Nicky’s. Pennsylvania is known for its creepy, paranormal past, and Nicky’s Pub is no exception.

But that’s why we love Pennsylvania.

9. Crash A Wedding At Warner Theater

If you’re thinking “Warner Bros.” when you see the title of this theater, you are right on the money. Warner Bros. built this theater in the early 1920’s and today the space is rented out for weddings and receptions. The ornate design on the inside of this theater provides the setting for a sentimental historical romance; you can understand why it’s such a popular place for love. It’s not just for weddings though.

The theater also showcases orchestras, plays, and lectures.

10. Tour The Old Presque Isle Light

One of Erie’s most historical lighthouses, Old Presque Isle Light, offers tours for those curious about nautical history. This lighthouse was built in 1818 and has recently been completely restored. The lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is no longer an operating lighthouse.

Today it stands as an attraction for the public and for those who want to learn more about the history of Erie.

The Historic Eagle Hotel is registered under the National Registry of Historic Places. The first floor is used as a restaurant named “Sugar N’ Spice”. The second and third floors are home to a museum with exhibits by the Fort Le Boeuf Historical Society.
