what are the pro’s – con’s on the 1973 harleys (AMF)?

i picked up a 73 H/D it is my first big bike are the parts hard to find im going to fix it my self so tell me the good or bad thx.ppl.

Go over it and put it back together right and it will be a sweet ride, The cone shovels are good motors. The previous poster is correct, HD dealers won’t touch shovels. That’s a good thing ’cause the last thing you want to do is take your bike to a Harley dealer. The mechanics at the dealerships are mostly incompetent and they charge rip-off prices. Find a good independent shop.

Parts for shovels are very easy to find.

Since joining the company as head of styling in 1963, his design team was responsible for landmark bikes including the Super Glide, which established the factory custom category in 1971, the Low Rider, the Heritage Softail Classic, the Fat Boy, the V-Rod and the Street Glide.
