H-D FX Super — Sparkling America

In the 1970s, funding dollars tight, so Willie G. Davidson and his team mated the chassis of a touring bike with of the lighter, more manageable end of the Sportster.

The result was the 1971 of the “ Sparkling America ”  motorcycle featured red, white and paint and a unique “boat-tail” fender — all trademarks that say “1970s”.

It was also around the same when Elvis and Priscilla split up.  They drew up a settlement agreement  to outline she would receive from the 12-page document shows Elvis signed over of three of his prized possessions – a Mercedes-Benz car, a 1969 El Dorado and a  1971 Harley motorcycle  along with in cash.

The property settlement dated August 15, 1972, indicates that Priscilla who had agreed to the cash settlement was 7.5 times less than the that she finally received in the end lawyer!).

The original divorce were sold last by an unnamed private owner having them for 20 years, at an in Texas for nearly $9,000.

If you have any information on its I’d like to hear from

The original 1971 FXs were to find.  Many owners back in the day like the “boat-tail” and replaced it a more traditional bobbed fender.   According to various Elvis owned at least Harley-Davidson motorcycles, but was photographed on at 10 different bikes.  His first was in 1956, a week after 21 years old and just days recording “ Heartbreak Hotel ” launched him into superstardom.

That motorcycle was a ’56 KH and was sold to by Elvis’ friend, Fleming in 1995 for an undisclosed amount, with documentation and is now part of the H-D collection.

In a bit of trivia…Elvis rode a of Harley’s in various films.  From my the more notable were (1964), “Viva Las Vegas” “Clambake” (1967) and “Stay Joe” (1968).
