Honda VT 750S Shadow RS

First Ride: 2010 Shadow RS The all-new Shadow RS is not the other ones.

Honda its first Shadow in 1983 and has cranking the things out nonstop since: Shadow Spirits, Aeros, ACEs in 600, 750 and 1100cc sizes—a virtual bombing of cruisers to cash in on happened to be au courant amongst the brigade for the past 27 years. (In the righteous Honda PR Ministry of the day like the press to call cruisers at all, because of the association with the Al Pacino Cruising, released in 1980. bikes are customs!they told us. they’d probably embrace the People wholeheartedly as spokespersons if it sell motorcycles.)

In any case, whether Shadows leading fashion or following it, the one Honda never built was a one, you know, with not so fashionably forward and with steering geometry. Now that finally gone ahead and that bike, the question is, why the didn’t they think of before? Why didn’t we?

Finally, this new Shadow RS is a you can love without being a person.

That’s right, the is 32 degrees instead of the 34 of the other Shadows, with an inch trail, and a wheelbase of 61.5 makes the RS 3 inches shorter the other Shadows, as well. says the bike weighs 507 all fueled up, which is 40 pounds or so than the others. All those add up to a Shadow that’s not just to turn but eager to—also to and accelerate.

None of those specs the RS exactly sporty, but what the scale in that direction is the fact that the footpegs, and seat put you in a nice standard, seating position that you to ride not cruiserly but sort of when the mood strikes Oh yeah, didn’t Honda to race flat-track? What was bike?

RS750? It’s all coming to us now…truly I can’t remember this much fun on a Shadow

The Shadow RS isn’t quite as as Bubba Shobert’s old 750 flat-tracker, but its 52-degree, offset-crankpin, injected gets the job done with linear, smooth, broadband to make things interesting—along a pretty healthy exhaust and a willing five-speed gearbox. A 296mm disc up front plenty of braking power for use.

Suspension verges on plush, but it reasonably well-damped upon ride and, together the bike’s excellent seat, the RS just the sort of platform you can around on all day (and/or … on as the situation dictates), with no to blame the bike for whatever’s your aging body. And need to stop now and then to up the 2.8-gallon gas tank anyway.

in Pearl White or Metallic for $7799. Full test to soon….
