Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme in test ride

Way back in Hero Honda (I am not sure to call it now) launched the Honda CBZ in India. Well so far so What next? The day it was launched, bike attracted the young and old its sporty styling. I will that the CBZ was the bike which hooked me onto the biking that I am.

From a distance I recognize that it is a CBZ coming my Not with the visual cue but with the from its exhaust. After the CBZ got a lesser bore silencer and so the throaty roar vanished. came the CBZ Star with its decals and nothing by way of an engine What the older CBZ wanted was head lights and a fuel engine.

I used to own a CBZ in my college and these were the only that I used to hear others who had the CBZ. Well my today is the new Hero Honda CBZ in India . The earlier CBZ Xtreme, if my serves me right was launched in or early 2007. However two down the line, there was a CBZ Xtreme with new decals and

The Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme in doesn’t look like the one it replaced earlier on. Not the Xtreme one but the one. The bikini fairing has got the striped pilot lamp on the top Lord Shiva’s third eye a visor above it and the head below it. The clear lens indicators have been integrated onto the bikini The front mud guard is half colored and half black.

The R derived alloy wheels great on this bike. The quality has noticeably improved the older variant. Like the from its stable, the Extreme gets red sprinkling for the spark holder, rear end and even the

There is a chrome strip the air filter panel and below is scribbled ATFT. The tail unit is completely black for the chrome shield and the chrome at the end. The rear portion is the Karizma ZMR’s rear was and it has got that clear lens going for it with those grab rails.

Here too the are neatly molded into the lamp cluster. Ohh, did I to mention that the wheels of the CBX are now available in two different colors for the and rear. Options are red or orange for the and black for the front or if you want red on the wheels, black on both the or even red on both the wheels.

The position of the Hero Honda CBZ in India does feel a mix of and commuterish. Infact more of the Its brake pedal is metal and doesn’t have rubber Instead it does away that concept entirely. The is perched higher than the seat.

Front seat has ample even though the set itself a bit thin. The rear seat is flat. Even a tall like me could grip the shrouds well but then it out of touch once the speeds and especially so when hard is demanded.

The white plastic meter dials are all analog and of a tripmeter, odometer, tachometer and a fuel gauge meter.

to ride it and I am all geared up for the same. The gets the a bit rear set foot and a single linkage toe shifter. like the old CBZ. The engine is with the Honda Unicorn, Dazzler,  Hero Honda and the Hero Honda Hunk.

It is a cc engine developed by Honda and by Hero Honda as well. the Xtreme in keeping with its intentions get a bit more power the same unit. The Hero CBZ Xtreme in India gets Ps of peak power at 8500 rpm the torque figure reads as Nm at 6,500 rpm.

The transmission is a 5 speed manual the 1 down four up shift The gear lever system smooth however the shift 2nd to 3rd was met with some resistance. The easily crosses the 0-60 mark however you really to look at the speedo to see what the bike is going at.

Unlike the or Apaches, this bike give the sense of speed. The kmph mark takes a bit of and thereafter to its top speed of 111 kmph, it is a The engine though extremely in the Honda Unicorn is more of a singer in the Xtreme.

However are nicely isolated and its only at the top if its rev do the vibes present themselves. As far as the quality goes, the CBZ doesn’t of any gas shock absorber gimmicks and as has a bit of harsh ride quality. this hard sprung aids in the handling department the CBZ sometimes allowing peg scraping

However the thin disc lever left a lot to be desired in of feel. Nevertheless the stopping is excellent. The rear brake worked fine without any signs of fade.

As regards efficiency, the all new Hero Honda CBZ in India has rectified the biggest in the old CBZ’s package. It is said the Xtreme returns 46 kmpl in and 54 kmpl on the highway. Compare with the old CBZ’s figures of 33 in city and 27 kmpl on the highway.

I am not of the fuel efficiency figures by any agency but from personal I remember that the initial CBZ had a tag of more than Rs 79000 the new Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme in India with standard brake in front, tripmeter, LED lamps and electric start set you back by Rs 64,400.
