Honda CB 750 Four is a heavy motorcycle of the manufacturer Honda from Japan. It was 1969 the first four-cylinder engine wheel in building of mass production also transverse to the driving direction of lying crankshaft. There were of course in former times Vierzylindermaschinen such as Henderson, and others, but that were expensive Exoten from manufacturing relating to crafts.

Exceptions were the Ariel Square Four and the nimbus, mass production Vierzylindermaschinen, however with other crankshaft arrangements.

Although expectations to performance data (67 HP, 200 km/h maximum speed) not completely proved to be true: here the first motorcycle, each BMW, was Norton and Triumph behind itself left (with travelling straight ahead – the curve experts recognized soon the easy chassis weaknesses of the first strong Japanese machines). New was also the disc brake at the front wheel.

This type of motorcycle was long built again and again in some model-maintained versions nearly ten years. The mechanics proved with normal care as long-lived. Pretty often the engines of these first 750er reach four-cylinder series run achievements of over 150.000 km.

Also that was unusual; Motorradfahrer counted in those years after 30.000 or 40.000 km on thorough engine overhaul work. With a 750er Honda that became rare.

Only as around 1972 Kawasaki with the 900er model and 81 HP, ended first the large era of the first CB 750 Four came out. Two last models of the origin series were not any longer as successful as their predecessors. Honda let the first 750er series run out in the year 1978, countered then in the long run with a substantially stronger reconstruction, Honda CB 900 Bol dВґOr.

With smaller capacity the second series of the CB 750 Four was then derived of this type.

Nowadays in particular the machines of the first series are rated as old timer motorcycles in good condition with a repeated one of its former ex-factory price.

Successor

Also in the years after, into the early 1980ern there was a model CB 750 Four . This represents however a complete reconstruction on basis Honda CB 900 supersport: with reduced capacity, an engine with two obenliegenden cam shafts and an achievement around 78 HP.

Derived first for Japan of the only abroad sold point top speed: pikanterweise was forbidden it in Japan bringing motorcycles with more than 750 ccm into traffic.

Beginning of the 1990er years took Honda again one modern designed and at the market then quite successful CB 750 Four in the program, in order to tie at the old fame-rich names: after one decade interruption third, fundamentally new version of a Vierzylinder Sporttourers. This version is called CB Sevenfifty and from 1992 to 2002 was built.
