i brought a top condition 1994 model with 28,000 miles on the clock that had a front fairing fitted for Ј1000, the front fairing model doesnt look as good as the naked model, but i was going for practicality not just looks, mines a full power version and as my first bike i instantly learn the controls and how to cope with a proper weight motorbike not a feather weight 125cc, the expereance so far has been simply mindblowing, i instantly thought the bike was powerful and torquey,but like everyone else has said as soon as you go over 6,000rpm the bike takes off like it has a turbo fitted, hand on heart the power is insane coming from a yamaha 125cc with 13bhp to my honda cb500 with 58bhp, the bike masters all conditions-city,open roads and motorways.

iv owned my cb500 for just over 2 months now, and im happy to report that she’s fine and reliability is second to none, i did have a few moments when i thought she had broken down on me the first was when she ran out of fuel and i thought it was dodge carb’s but i put the reserve tap on and she fired up instantly, the second was when i hit the kill swith and thought it was a massive electrical fault, noe of these were the bike’s fault and completely mine (i should know better i’m a motorbike mechanic student).

anyway here’s what i think now- the powers still nice and crisp and enough to give me a rush,but not crap my pant’s like some bike’s, she stays warm for age’s and rarely needs the choke to be used after the moring start,( some bikes go cold quickly and need choke every time you leave them for more than 10min’s), the brakes on mine (the 1994 model with rear drum) are not the best, and the rear drum suffers from fade it it’s over used (like all drum brakes) and my front disc is above average( but defernatly works better when warmed-up), i did find out that me fairing is custom and made from car head lights (that are really good cos i can fit xeon bulbs without the headlight melting) and some other bike’s fairing, but im not complaing and would defernaty say my custom fairings miles better than honda’s version,( mine’s got a higher screen and wind deflectors for your hands), she’s awesome at handling and the weight of her is easyly controlled at low speeds and inspires confidence at high speeds due to the stability. nice exhaust note from my motord exhaust, and the seat could be softer although has never givin me a num bum, oh yeah the bike can get vibraty if you let the rev’s drop below 2,000rpm but this is due to only having 2 cyclinders and alot of power.

and that’s my update guy’s ill give another update if i sell her, but i don’t know why i would sell her, she’s just so good at doing everything.
