Honda CBR125R

Advantages: to Ride, Cheap, Fun, on Fuel, Maintenance is Easy/Cheap Fantastic Learner BIke

Looks? Small Tyres, do more than 75mph

a young lad, I always of having a motorbike as many 10 olds do, I was a major fan. But then did I think that I be riding a couple of years Even though it isn’t the machine I thought I’d capable of doing over 150 mph and a mean purr of the exhaust, the CBR 125R is the first step up the

Even though it is a small with a 125cc engine and 13 bhp Horse Power), it is not to be underestimated, as it has a lot of and personality as I’ve discovered it to be fun to cruise around on with power to get a kick out off.

The CBR 125 is ready to be ridden by anyone just passed their CBT got the DL196 certificate which you’re safe on a motorbike) in the UK. I the bike right after my CBT (wasn’t with flying I regret to say) and I was nervous riding it.

My riding school had Yamaha YBR 125 motorbikes on which I on and I was honestly not a fan at all as I struggled to maintain the large and sluggish motorbike. big and heavy, but it doesn’t compensate power. Bit edgy after my experience, I began riding my CBR 2 later and honestly any nerves I had motorbike riding disappeared of the ease the CBR allows you to ride.

It is a bike, and very light and to manoeuvre and has a standard upright position so is very comfortable the start, but the seat has enough to allow you to move back for my although still doesn’t put you in a Sports Bike position or the Hugger’.

I own the 2004 CBR which is the and original CBR 125 with a carburettor newer versions of the CBR from are Fuel Injected, hence varied features.

The bike is standard and is meant to be beginner so won’t have any advanced that a 600cc Motorbike have, or a more expensive motorbike. The clocks display the RPM Per Minute) and the Speed in MPH on the UK version, though the clock does up to 120Mph, I wish anyone trying to get it that fast Also a Neutral light is for the gears and a Fuel and Temperature

You’ll also find a on the bike which you pull up to the mixture in your engine it easy to start up in cold The choke is meant to slowly off once the engine is warmed up, I do find this doesn’t (might be due to my bike being a bit old and but it is easy to simply push it down and go as you engine will up while you ride. If you forget to off the choke the engine will off when you pull in the clutch a few minutes of riding.

The handle have the standard indicators, On/Off (lights can’t be off), and Horn on the left and on the right. All controls are easy to with your thumb, when wearing larger as I do, I accidently hit the horn on occasion going for the Beams/Indicators, and get a lot of odd looks passers and other car drivers.

The tank holds around 7 and the bike can FULLY be filled up for Ј9 (at 1.34p per litre current I get a lot of jealous car owners when are told this. This also last me around a in typical commuting of around 50 a week, this being aggressive and fast riding A Roads mainly, if you conserve, you can get much more out of it.

Also not to show favouritism, but I Shell fuel to suit the far better, especially Shell its more expensive, but adds oomph into the bike.

As the seat is quite spacy, you sit in an position as you would on a cruiser but can slide back closer and be to the tank. You also have a seat, this being a bike you are limited to who you can carry being no one if you have a provisional I found that people about 60 kg will do in your quite badly, but lighter (co-incidentally the average girls the age of 18. this being because I am 18, not I am creepy hahaha) won’t put too tension on the back spring. But as I the bike is quite small and may a bit ridiculous with 2 people on it.

the pillion seat you’ll a small storage area is unlocked with the ignition It’s a small space, fit a small tool kit in there and manuals. I keep mine and might occasionally put in a small lock or as I found out a small meal will also

===The Ride===

Riding the is a breeze, very easy to get use too and is designed in mind for the beginner. I it too be a reasonable smooth ride to about 70mph, anything you may find the bike starting to a bit as it is being pushed to the ultimate, you need to slide back and get to the tank for aerodynamics in this

The Gears are manual and the gear goes as a standard bike, 1 and 5 up, so 6 gears altogether, the 6th Gear is for economy rather than so if you manage to get around 75mph click into 6th and maintain it. The itself can be a bit awkward, but this may be to my bike being quite old as I it sticks and can be a bit solid to shift but regular maintenance usually any problems like that

Turning or more specifically can be a bit of a nuisance because of the thin I feel I am going crazy it going around a Roundabout, I suggest it at all when its wet, having to watch the road for such as mud or irregularities, as the tyre cover as much surface Most minor accidents on motorbikes are Lowslides where the has slipped on something on the road. done this personally on rocks going to fast a turn and hit some gravel and seen a person on a YBR 125 also in wet weather, so don’t risk it turns!

Overall can be a pleasure to but the small tyres are something to as doing tight fast may prove a little much.

As I mentioned I have a used 2004 CBR 125, in I think it was one of the first off the line for the UK. then the bike has changed a bit, especially the 2007 they redesigned the bike to more like its bigger the CBR1000 Fireblade and also Fuel Injection rather the Carburettor, making it even fuel efficient.

If you can afford it say go for the newer 2007 + versions of the CBR 125, they look and Fuel Injection allows for starts and fewer problems.

The new 2011 CBR 125 has been again to give it a whole new look, I am a fan, but a lot of other disagree.

The Honda CBR 125 is probably one of the cheapest bikes around and is also popular, so much so that a lot of bikes have been imitating the look and style, as the Skyjet, but these are lesser bikes and don’t get the well-known reliability (as mentioned below), so it is paying that little bit it is a little bit), it get the actual CBR 125.

The older versions 2004 to 2006 will around Ј1000 to Ј1600, of the newer and better condition are, the more they It’s always better to get but I wouldn’t go out of your way to get the newest and as a well maintained old bike is as or better.

The new 2007 versions Fuel Injection will a fair bit more, ranging around Ј1500 to a brand new on for Ј2500, they look and are more economic, so I’d say if you can it, get it!

===Maintenance, Running Costs

Being a whole beginner bike and all it is easy to maintain it. the weekly checks is easy and more advance takes are a with the Honda CBR 125. As a bigger and faster bike, or any all together, you’ve got to oil the chain, oil, replace coolant and the engine is working fine for a and fulfilled life for the bike.

recommend having a small kit with a range or screwdrivers and a set as a minimum if you plan to do some yourself (and you should to get know how). Also a manual is like the bible for any owner, so invest Ј10 and get you’re for this bike.

Average monthly running will be around Ј50 for the petrol.

recommended you do an oil change every 6 and only a litre is required, so get the oil you can and it’ll be about Ј15 will labour as it is easy to change the oil the right tools. While things, I’d also in some fresh brake about Ј5 per litre, and only a is required.

Repairs are pretty considering this is a very bike and parts are cheap to by, used and new, any bike can supply you with almost for the bike and also sort the out for you with reasonable labour I’d advice not to go to expensive at Ј60 an hour as they will for parts as I found out.

I’ve Experienced===

Although I am a big fan of bike, and it is very reliable on the I have experience some with it I’d like to A very common problem the CBR 125 is the fact that its electrical isn’t the best, in fact it is a common occurrence for the wiring to bounce free and some comes loose causing issues, essentially the headlamp dim. It can be fixed at a garage easily by a decent mechanic.

be vary of bargain bikes. I was to buy one with numerous owners, due to it has had a life before I got it and I am paying for its so be sure to inspect it before

===Customs/After Market===

Once this bike is very and lots of After Market are available if you look in the right eBay have got a few custom floating around and any good dealer will be able to you parts for the bike you want.

I’ve personally got an Arrow on the bike. It makes it sound (in my opinion) and gives it a few extra BHP to running slightly lean). It looks slightly different and I’ve got a lot of comments from about it.

Also due to my accident, above, I’ve fitted smaller indicators by Oxford in any good bike shop look really cool. But if you to go hard core into the bike with custom and tuning, this bike is popular and easy to get parts

If you are after your motorbike and are a teenager off medium this bike is perfect. Its but it is a little beast inside, and fun to ride. Like a lot of bikers say bikes are very forgiving and one really is, you can make mistakes and on it no problems and little danger of hurting yourself due to the bike light, easy to manoeuvre and to learn on.

You’ll make you’ll learn for life and it’s a great intro becoming a good bike for your future CBR 600RR or R6.

I recommend this bike

Summary: Once you’ve 75mph of petrol, you’ll go back to a car!
