Honda CBR250R ABS 1,000 KM Review by Ratan

Hey readers, I am 19 year old guy from Mumbai.

and foremost, a very big thanks to forum for helping me in choosing the bike.

Before the main I would like to tell you about my short story on how I got my on the ceeber.

I am from a middle family and I thank my parents for me this machine regardless of its I learned riding on my dad’s  5 old Bajaj discover 125cc we still have. After the learning license, I told my about my desire to get a good bike. My first preference was the R15 v1 time v2 hadn’t launched), told me that they gift me the bike on my birthday on December,  2011.

I was very that time and since I started some research on and then on September 6th, R15 launched. enquired from the and they told me that v1 has stopped and only v2.0 is The bike looks awesome but me and my dint like the rear because it is too small and has no grab for safety. so I decided to buy the HONDA with ABS, after my parents about the ABS and its safety. agreed.

On 1st Jan 2012, we went to Honda showroom, took the drive and booked the RED  for Rs. 5000/-. they said the period is just 20 days. I was happy as it was a great start for the new 2012. on 19th Jan 2012, I got a from the showroom and luckily my dad was that day.

We both went. checked the made payment of 1,90,477 and got the I was a bit nervous so I told my dad to ride it and I sat as a filled 500rs petrol and we home. this was how I got my mini

Now comes the 1,000 KM review of the CBR250R ABS

I have just 1000 km on the ODO. 1st service was at 400 kms. Used semi oil as I had read on the net that full oil should be used after the is at least 4000 km old.

I go feature by feature. telling my ride and rating every  of this bike individually.

CBR250R ABS Looks. 4 out of 5

The bike awesome (not as awesome as the R15 Almost every person on the turns back to see which it is. It is a joy to ride such a wonderful bike. the Red + grey combo

Out of the 4 available colors (red. silver. HRC) HRC looks the but red is the most noticeable and attractive

Quite futuristic exhaust. cockpit. fat tyres, large disc. large looking tank. etc make this look one of the best lookers in the 2 market in India .

Honda ABS Handling. 3.5 out of 5

The handling of the bike is I will give it 3.5 out of 5 because I it heavy in traffic jams. I just 67 kgs and the bike weighs 167 I find it a bit difficult to ride on slow speeds in traffic specially at 5 to 9 pm in the evening, but in corners it is I would say it is almost as good as the R15 in but R15 again is light weight so it better in traffic.

I would rate R15 4.5 outa 5 in but since CBR250R is heavy and a bit in traffic. 3.5 is proper.

Honda ABS Performance. 4.5 out of 5

This is one powerhouse, 26 ps power. Though the bike underpowered on 1st and 2nd gear, but as soon as you higher gears you can actually the power. The bike loves to be hard, I cannot explain it but you can understand when you ride it at gears, the bike is amazingly It has a great mid end and top end but lacks the low end.

It to be revved, you won’t enjoy it below 4k rpm, max powerband is at rpm and max torque at 7000rpm.

Honda ABS Fit and Finish. 3 out of 5

Fit and finish includes the work. the welding works. bolts. and plastics. I am not totally with the fitting, specially the bolts, my bike is of the new batch and there is no rusting problems and rail quality issues, but the fit and finish is not up to Honda standards (it is but when you spend almost 2 you expect top notch finish), the material on the foot pegs are torn, the paint work paint) on the clip on handles is not great. The plastic of the fairings seem strong (same in of R15) or i guess I am expecting too so I would rate the fit and finish 3 5 which is not that good in mind the price I paid.

Honda CBR250R ABS Comfort. 4 out of 5

comfortable bike, for the rider as as the pillion. My mum and dad went mahalaxmi from borivali. It was a small 100 km up total and they said the is very comfortable and is a joy for the rider as as pillion.

That time I that I made the right by not buying R15 v2 since it has no comfort for and less comfort for rider. (I was a big r15 fan they came up with a rear seat) I am 6 ft tall and I get no pains, very slight in palms when I ride in jams because continuously to keep the clutch in friction and also because of a slight seating posture.

Honda ABS Mileage. 4 out of 5

Now by looking at the 4 star don’t expect 50 kmpl, the gives me 27 kmpl mileage in and 35 kmpl on highways. I rate it 4 out of 5 for a 250cc ,

26ps performance 27 kmpl in city is really good. Before 1st service I was only 24 kmpl, but now i get 27-28. I ride in cities, for long (100km+) on highways, my dad uses

CBR250R ABS brakes. 5 out of 5

The best of this bike is the brakes, by NISSIN, so not much to explain Mine is the ABS version which is by nissin, the standard CBR  are made by bybre and I dont how good or bad they are, but my brakes are just fantastic.

The bike never skids, purposely tried braking on muddy type roads have gravels, it does not I have also tried rear brakes very (didn’t have the guts to front brakes strongly on the filled with gravels) and the stops very quickly locking the tyres. I think ABS is a on Indian below average roads in city. Roads on are comparatively very decent. is the part that I love the in my bike.

Safety first.

CBR250R ABS Tyres :  2.5 out of 5

Indian CBR tyres are provided by continental

The tyres look great but do not that good. It has just road grip. While you wont feel confident. It the tyres are not holding on to the road well while cornering. from cornering. the tyres are but still. for the price paid, we real good tyres.

MRF are good, Pirelli sport is the best. Will buy Pirelli 10,000 kms because now my parents let me spend much on my bike

CBR250R ABS service centers. 2 out of 5

seriously needs to take in this area. I am not satisfied the service, yes they changed the oil and oil thats ok. but even minor are not available in the service center.

the bolts on my RVM becomes loose every 100 kms, I don’t how, maybe because of vibes. the bolts loosen. The person had told me that will fit a new bolt. but what do I get from the service center. I get an ans woh bolts abhi available nai which means they available.

Simple bolts of the CBR’s RVM not damn, so I bought new bolts local shop and fitted now there is no loosening and one more dis was that I was charged 1000 Rs for coating, I think that was too but I wanted the bike to look new all the but recently i read in bikeadvice most of the service people wax polish the bike which lasts for a week or so. Teflon takes one entire day and hence people just polish the surface of the bike. so I was very sad

my 1000 Rs went in just for teflon coating. HONDA are you

Ok now enough of ratings now lets at the bad part of the bike (not

As earlier, I am not very happy the fit and finish of the bike.

Service not good, spare parts and lack of skilled mechanics are good for small bikes but lack knowledge about

167 kg, very heavy in traffic because I am new to such heavy however my dad never complains this (he is an expert rider who a RD350 and yezdi in his younger

Front mudguard is very hence every time you in water or sticky mud, the mud the radiator fins. So I will to take care during seasons.

Saree guard bad, design is pretty also, the saree guard not have place to keep the so how would a female wearing sitting on CBR place her foot she sits sideways.

There have been a rear hugger like R15 v2, it would bit odd but without it, every time I even slightly in water, the comes on the back of the pillion and the area below the seats dirty.

Nothing much to say it has won 17 bike of the year 2011 and the best sports/race/touring  bike in by overdrive magazine on par with and R15. Overall, its a racing + It is fast and comfortable and suitable for rides.

I have not made any 100+ km rides till now but surely take the bike for trips when I am free studies in vacations.

Ninja 250 is a better and faster bike, but it costs 3 lacks 20 thousand in and gives 20 kmpl mileage in and also doesn’t have ABS without ABS also its brakes are top So overall CBR250R is a value for bike. Ninja looks and performs better but CBR is VFM and that’s made it the bike of the year .

all. Hope you liked the whatever I wrote in the review is based on my experience, no bias and I m not praising the bike because I own it.
