Honda CBR250R Ownership By Ram Varma

on January 29 2012, pm

My name is Ram Varma and I am going to my ownership report of my Honda This report starts the very first time I about the bike till It all started when the news a 250cc mill from came out.

I was keen on it as I was not satisfied with the service by Bajaj for the 220. The P220 was fine but only till the couple of months, then rattling sounds from the and other plastic parts, by mis-fires and mental torture. The advisors and mechanics don’t at problems from a biker’s of view. All they ever was to get done with a problem for being.

Never did they try to fix a permanently.

Jan-6-2011 – It was the day when I got an from a blog saying the bookings are open starting I rushed to the showroom in my pajamas not to any time and to make sure I get the first bike, But found mine is the second booking, mind, I’m getting it in the first lot The wait started and kept on as the launch date was not officially I kept calling the showroom to if the launch date is fixed but in vain.

Finally after 5 months of got to know the launch date and it was the moment of my life.

April-24-2011 – The lot of bikes have arrived to the I rush to the showroom to have a of my Baby blade but my hard played its game. The first lot did not any black ABS in it. There was not even a Black ABS sent out to any showroom in the lot for that matter.

Mine the second one in line, I had no hopes of the bike in May either.

May-14-2011 – I home late from the other day and slept late, I get a from the dealer early in the I with hatred answer the to scold him for calling at that to talk about finance and (I was assuming it to be a finance related

Sales Rep. Good sir.

Me. Morning, What is it

Rep. We received a second lot and it had one Black CBR ABS in it.

Me. Mine is the second one in isn’t it?

Rep. Yes sir, But the one who booked isn’t ready the finance thing, so wanted to if you would be interested in taking it.

Me. Are you

Rep. Yes sir.

Me. Don’t the PDI unless I reach the place, the billing process and other I’m on my way to the showroom. I don’t want any ifs and after I reach the showroom. OK?

Sure sir. I’ll be for your arrival.

Me. I’ll be in 15 minutes.

It took some 30 minutes for me to assemble cash different ATMs as the delivery was unplanned. Reached the showroom in 30 and started the PDI. A person HMSI was doing PDI on that

There was only one Black CBR so that it isn’t faulty. Did a PDI. Checked every thing. Refused to get the so called and headed over to the billing and process.

Insurance system was down that day. T/R was not yet but I was no way going to leave the showroom the bike. After an hour, the place with the bike and The rep said the papers would be by 7 tomorrow and I can collect them any tomorrow.

I was fine with it.

impression — The bike was but not as smooth as a Honda should be. I was the smoothness to improve after miles on the odo. Throttle response was fuel economy was superb at 30+ for a 250cc motor. Braking was The gear and brake pedals was something which took time to get used to.

Clocked 180 kms on day one. Bunked that day and kept riding to all over Hyderabad. There was too of heat being generated by the as it was brand new. I was fine it.

Riding experience — gear is something which you not like to keep it in. It’s not a friendly bike. Apart the first gear, all other are rider friendly. It’s a to ride the CBR on highways.

Honda CBR 250 R ABS

It has ample of power to cruise at 120-130 for hours together. It can overtake ease with just a of throttle above 100 in 6 th gear. did I feel that it’s riding position is also you will get used to.

Initially I some pain on my wrist but soon things changed. was another aspect which make you feel good on the It is not in the league of the R15’s handling but far better when you talk a sports touring bike.

It can eat like a pro (depends on the rider

400 kms on the odo and it was time for an oil change (MotoMan’s way of in, read about it here ). guys didn’t have oil in stock anywhere in AP so had to source one Bangalore through a friend. Got the oil swapped and there was a big difference. The was smoother, vibes from the disappeared.

1500 kms on the odo and went for the official service which included oil filter change and some so called checks. This is I changed to fully synthetic After which, every kms I kept changing my oil just to get the of my baby blade.

It was rev happy, it a maximum of 165 kmph and it put so many on my face when it was able to a Kawasaki Ninja 250R on the highway.

It was time to see how good it can the ghats and bad roads so took it on a trip to Ooty via the Bandipur A Ninja and an R15 were along me so it was a good time to see how the CBR250R perform when compared to the two. On the highway it was more of a joy for the three of us but when the ghats it was a different ball game all

CBR250R was easily going up the on the hairpin bends without gears often where the and R15 were refusing to climb less gear changes. The of the Ninja and the R15 complained the same.

Braking on the wet roads in the ghats was a for all 3 of us but CBR did the job very well. Both the and R15 fishtailed a couple of times panic braking but CBR’s ABS worked it’s magic. this trip, I was so impressed the bike that I decided not to the bike for the rest of my life.

I was impressed with the quality, and handling abilities. Soon 6 months of ownership and 7500 kms on the It was time to keep the CBR to an ultimate The durability test. It was time to do the … association’s Saddle and Bun Burner rides which test both the ride and the endurance levels (read the report on it here )

36 hours of riding covering 2560 kms no breaks, no oil change and no low speed is something which every can do. I had hopes in my CBR250R as I’ve it up to the mark and it had no issues since day one other owners from the country had multiple issues. All the ride, the bike handled Was able to cruise at 110-120 for together, tires never up, neither did the engine. The headlight was on the highways.

Adequate spread to munch on our highways. The mileage was a shocker this endurance ride. I was a good 31 kmpl on an average the ride.

After this ride, I was impressed the most. It let me down till date, be it a ride or an endurance ride it is from the initial lots faced many problems. The are still going good 11000 kms on the odo, brake are still stock. No problems date with the bike. a bang for your buck

Go for it is my suggestion if you’re considering it.

Oh, and by the as on 1/29/2012, My Honda CBR250R is the first CBR250R to complete the Bun and Saddle Sore challenge .
