As an of the then popular and reliable Big Red I had become a big Honda fan. So, in when the first Honda 300 4X4 came out, I immediately down to the Honda dealer and one for $3,000.

After 19 years of use, my reliable Honda still looks good, strong and Honda ATV parts and ATV are readily available.

In 23 Years of Service

1… I installed an Honda FourTrax rear in 1995 due to my failure to keep the lock nut tight, damaging the hub spline. Cost was $65 for the new axle and 2.5 of my labor to replace. Note of new axle with electrical (keeps nut from backing Owners should check L R lock nuts occasionally.

access is very good.

2… I fuel selector assembly and line in 2007. They wore out. 30 minutes of my and $66 for the new assembly.

That’s all except for plugs, 2 $74 batteries, tires, valve adjustments and other maintenance items. The optional FourTrax maintenance manual is written and is easy for the average to read and follow its instructions.

The little 282 cc engine more like a 400 cc with a top of 45 mph. When in the ultra-low and reverse gears you never bog or run out of power. The ride is really smooth considering the stiff

Steering and turning radius is even with full-time Expect poor handling on The Honda FourTrax is an excellent ATV for novices. Gas mileage is phenomenal; I ran out of gas

25 miles from home and made it in on the .7 gal reserve. 4×4 is very good considering the low clearance. The engine and differentials are protected by a skid plate has stood up well from a lot of from rocks.

The front wishbones are very too.

I live at 5,000 ft. and ride as high as 10,000 ft. the stock jetting with no if I run a hotter spark plug and the valves adjusted properly.

little four-wheeler has never let me in over 23 years of very riding and still runs and like new. I’ve to newer more powerful but still keep the reliable as a spare bike for me to ride.

As of October 2011 we still the little Honda 300 and it still strong! It is parked in the garage by side with a 2002 Rancher. Both ATV’s are used as spare bikes for our to ride.

Occasionally I compare the fit and of the two and always come to the conclusion there is no comparison in later ATV’s to the quality, endurance and economy of the original Honda 300

If you are in the market for a used, inexpensive but 4X4 ATV, take a closer at the Honda TRX300 4X4. just don’t make anymore like the original FourTrax
